Okay… this blog post is going to be downright rude. You have been warned.
Our Nepali film industry is known to simply add numbers and increasing that is ‘The Last Kiss’, by the looks of it its yet another sleazy movie aiming to sell ‘sex’ yet delivering vulgarity on our screens. Unlike India so far much of Nepali cinema have been categorized in one level with varied genres such as Ethnic cinema but looking at the ‘kiss-filled’ trailer of The Last Kiss, it’s fair to say this is probably Nepal’s first ever B grade movie; CONRATS!
In simpler terms ”low-budget commercial motion picture”. I wonder why the actors and actresses were so keen on doing all the sleazy kiss scenes. ”kathale mang gareko thiyo tyo scenes haru” – that’s their likely response! Guaranteed! But really, as an observer and someone who unfortunately gets to hear the grims of Nepali cinema – boys and especially girls… don’t be desperate for ‘fame’, just be realistic. You know desperation is not necessarily a bad thing, it could mean you’re just passionate for something, but don’t compromise your values to be where you see yourself in the future. Tehii ho… then again truthfully speaking I’m sure no one recognizes these ‘actors and actresses’ shown on the trailer of The Last Kiss, and probably won’t recognize or remember even after the movies box office success or debacle.
I know it’s a trailer but yesto movies harule garera ho manche le Nepali film lai ‘chya’ bhanne ani ghrina garne. Thanks to this there’ll be more with the ”what the fuck” expression plastered on their face. And to any aspiring filmmakers sitting and viewing this; watching this might motivate you but please think twice before you commit yourself to making a movie, we’re don’t want your film to be just another number.
