A lot has changed since 2011 in the way we view people, media and beauty. RAMRI ALERT, a feature of lexlimbu.com that I started back in May 2011 to give a space to women that caught my eye, that are ramri is something that I feel less comfortable continuing at this present time. Following RAMRI ALERT was THITO ALERT in August 2012 featuring a set of photos of Nepali cricketeer Prithu Baskota. RAMRI and THITO ALERT basically features men and women who are good looking and doing something in/around modelling, cinema, sports – those who are pursuing a profession that puts them in the public. Since the beginning, I’ve only featured thirteen RAMRI ALERT and eight on THITO ALERT. The most recent feature of actress Sandhya KC on RAMRI ALERT came after eleven months (the previous RAMRI ALERT feature was posted on Dec 2016).
I have often questioned the purpose of Ramri and Thito Alert in the past few years as I’ve done my own growing up and along the way how I view people has changed drastically. Having received a handful of criticism for only featuring good-looking people on the blog (not just RAMRI and THITO) and apparently promoting my ‘elite friends’, there have been numerous times where I’ve wondered if something like RAMRI ALERT or THITO ALERT is necessary right now. The most recent RAMRI ALERT invited several comments, very few but I take good criticism seriously, labelling the section of the blog as being shallow and posing a question as to why women are ‘Ramri’ and men are ‘Thito’.
If I remember correctly, it took me a while to come up with RAMRI ALERT. Whilst other websites have ‘model of the month’ and ‘featured gallery’, I wanted to come up with a unique title and when it came to creating one for men, ‘ramre’ did not sound as good therefore ‘thito’ came about. I created those titles believing ramri and thito to be more or less equal. At a time when we want more incredible figures and personalities in media is being ‘Ramri’ (beautiful/pretty) wrong? Can we no longer celebrate beautiful men and women?
Beyond the title, opening the link and reading the brief interviews give an insight into the lives of these men and women and what they do. Some are impressive, and some just okay, I cannot quite make everyone impressive or write inspiring answers on behalf of them. We often criticise one another for making ‘Instagram models’ famous but it’s high time we take ‘Instagram models/people’ serious for they can be powerful online influencers in this digital era. Do you want someone to promote your shop, restaurant or your hotel? Go find an Instagrammer with a large (relevant to company interests) following and the results might surprise you.
With my interests with Nepali celebrities fading by the day, it’s easier for me to grow distant to the idea of continuing RAMRI and THITO ALERT. Beyond the few posts created on these features, lexlimbu.com has highlighted some incredibly inspiring women, men and actions and I hope you give a thumbs up or retweet to those blog-posts too. I would say continue, seeing others thrive inspires me to do more than what I am doing right now. Hopefully it’s the same for others too.
While I have followed those people featured(I have followed only the women in your section),I feel aesthics are given a priority to be a ‘ramri alert’(I am sorry if you have other people featured in other posts but the ones I opened and read had only people in glamour spotlights one way or the other). I do not think ‘ramri’ and ‘thito’ are basically “bad” words. Maybe we could also feature women and men who are not working in the field of glamour and the post could still be ‘ramri/thito’ alert.

I would say continue. Why not?? As being a Nepalese who has no idea about the upcoming talents in Nepal i feel happy and informed. It’s always nice to see new talented Nepalese ppl getting recognised via ur blog. It’s just a medium for us to know them.
Please continue it. There is always gonna be criticism in what ever u do. Let’s look into the bright side. U came up with unique name. I really like it.
