Nepal’s First Underpass In Kalanki!

The road construction in Kalanki felt like it went forever but there seems to be a light that’s appearing at the end of the tunnel. The 800-metre Kalanki underpass has made national news after it was opened for trial on Friday last week. The construction of the underpass began in 2013 and was delayed in 2015 due to the earthquake and blockade (and I am sure those weren’t the only reasons for the delay). The operation of the underpass is expected to reduce congestion in Kalanki area. The underpass is still in need of some work including dividers, traffic lights and light signals. The official inauguration is set to take place in December this year.

We definitely, have a long way to go. Baby steps. That’s important I guess.
