Shristi Shrestha in Nepal!

Shristi on Kishor Kayastha’s upcoming project

Popular Nepali model Shristi Shrestha from the UK has made quite an impact in Nepals showbiz circuit. Shristi is seen above on Kishor Kayastha’s upcomong project and will also be on the cover of Navyaata in the coming months. Sources have confirmed that Namrata Shrestha will be seen once again on this months cover of Navyaata ;).
Apart from looking glammed up in front of a garbage site with children in poverty Shristi also walked for Nepal Fashion Week in early September. Cant wait for Navyaata!

  1. huh? how can poverty and fashion go along? Its like making a mockery out of those poor children who can’t afford a pair of clothes.. DISLIKE!!!

  2. i agree with pahadi jetha bro.. who could come up with such amateur idea? Sure, he may have his own interpretation to that pic, but the final meaning to ani work is always defined much from wat the viewers read it as. Unlike!! big time.. looks like someone tryna pull in some audiences. 😉

  3. i don’t like the concept of this photo shoot…

i personally don’t think poverty and fashion goes well with each other…

bt when i see the foreground and background separately…both pivtures are breath taking….=_=

  4. i kind of understand what he’s trying to do but the whole poor kids at the back and her in a gleaming clean white dress with fresh face is not working.

  5. agreed with the 1st comment! its a catchy picture for the viewers thats it. the concept is garbage! perhaps its a world of competitive fashion and good that navayata is creating fashion for real in nepal but this one is like ” ask the model, how she felt when she shot these fotographs near those poor kids?” ..
    -good luck

  6. There’s lot controversy going on regarding the picture.
I maybe wrong but I like the photographer perpect visualized in the picture.I could see the Poverty needs Serious help in Nepal. But instead it is increasing enormously everyday because of so many reason like political issues, ignorance, hatred etc.
A lady in white is glamorous and in otherterms a ‘fairy’ who walkthrough the life of Poverty and see the aspects of it.Diversity of quality of life is symbolized here. Those Kids could sustain same clothes and same lifestyle as fairy only if one is willing to help them.Rather than a comparison between fashion and poverty why don’t we put in the way that a mother is going to help her poor kids and show them the way towards a healthy lifestyle.

Some may dislike for the fact as they might feel it as a disgrace to bring the issue of Poverty along the fashion but I would appreciate the same fact as Photographer trying to bring out the issue which many people ignore in daily lives.Poverty is an issue since long ago in Nepal and it’s rising everyday due to various facts and figures.Instead critizing the picture, have you ever done anything towards the poverty to reduce it or kill it where every nepalese can have a good healthy normal life?If you haven’t ,this is the time to think about it and every little donations or your effort/time is so valauble to them.If you have done something , can you give consistency towards these project?
OR Are there lack of organization to fund these kids who are the future of Nepal ?Guess if every normal living people can help bits and change the future of our country Nepal.
No disrespect to anyone , just a raised opinion and want to say there is a positive side of this picture too.
Lets be aware and help each other.
Together we make the nation better.

    Thanx for the blog.

    1. ur comment was very touching..

    2. i advice u to once read wat i’ve written earlier as a comment.

    3. see all the above comments by diff people, n u may notice that most of us could pull out the negative sorta interpretation from the pic..

    4. go back once again to mi earlier comment and now see wat u u’ve pulled out.

    5. thanks for trying to make us aware of our unawareness..

  8. @Rabi Chamling Rai
    Thank you for the notes.
I read your comments earlier and reading again and reading other comments too.I could see the positive vibe but disliking the picture that come across their mind.

“Sure, he may have his own interpretation to that pic, but the final meaning to ani work is always defined much from wat the viewers read it as.”– I was just sharing what I’ve seen, maybe wrong as a viewer that you quoted there.I was trying to see the other aspects of picture since most find it catchy but still dislike the picture. But this could bring some light to the aspects of whats going on towards poverty.

    Overall,
“Its like making a mockery out of those poor children who can’t afford a pair of clothes.. DISLIKE!!!”– For these comment I mentioned (A lady in white is glamorous and in otherterms a ‘fairy’ who walkthrough the life of Poverty and see the aspects of it.Diversity of quality of life is symbolized here.)

    “unlike…” Just an Opinion.:D

“i don’t like the concept of this photo shoot…

i personally don’t think poverty and fashion goes well with each other…”– For this comment I mentioned (Those Kids could sustain same clothes and same lifestyle as fairy only if one is willing to help them.Rather than a comparison between fashion and poverty why don’t we put in the way that a mother is going to help her poor kids and show them the way towards a healthy lifestyle.)

“ask the model, how she felt when she shot these fotographs near those poor kids?” .. “–I don’t know how she felt.Seemingly Shristi is really generous and kind to help I guess she must have done somthing for them. But,was more curious are there even lot people who go near them and try to help ??? Many of us don’t even know how they live and how they react in daily lifes. So the point was
(Are there lack of organization to fund these kids who are the future of Nepal ?Guess if every normal living people can help bits and change the future of our country Nepal.)

Sorry Rabi jeu, If you think m’ wrong. M’ not trying to prove anything but just giving my opinion which could be wrong and just want to wish well for everyone, for my people and for my Country.
I am really happy about your awareness and right attitude towards it.Thank you for sharing your notes.

    warm regards

  9. @ Subha chintak
i salute ur interest towards our country and it’s prosperity. all i tried to explain u was he’s intention which u define it to have been, is good, but his method or concept used to portray that intention is simply a big fail.. do u get me?? the picture is crap if he’d taken it thinking wat u’d told me.. the picture however can work as publicity stunt.. can be a big hit for controversy.. peace…

  10. EPIC FAIL.
    PHOTOSHOOT SUCKS
i mean how can a humanbeing agrees to do such a harsh concept of potraying a poverty displaying childrens as a victim of fashion world who has nothing to do with it.
and a model should not only think of displaying her body but should understand ones feeling of displaying as a toy at the background which i think is a cruel act so far.
    GOD BLESS YOUR MIND.

Hope it dont rest in peace.

  11. @ Rabi Chamling Rai
    Thank you.
WEll , I get the point you are saying and maybe the concept or method that is potrayed is crap with regards to the explanation I am raising.I might be wrong but I was just looking for another view of the picture. It could be one of the picture from the series of Collage. One picture might be misleading.. I just wanna know the view of photographer now.He might have figured totally different scenario.
    @ Tsering sherpa khambache
Yes , we should all work towards it.
    Many thanx Rabi.

    Subha Chintak.

  12. I did not like the idea of photoshoot at all…poverty seems to b a joke in there and unfortunately that’s the reality of our country :- c

  13. i have seen her earlier
as she has been quite popular for her modelling magic
however i dislike the way she has posed here
with attitude and ego of personal popular side, it would have been more reliable if she has posed like a caring human being or embrace them with hug not like a some kind of celebrity as we know she is.Her same way of facial expression ruined this, concept should like this should be dumped in a dustbin.
way to go shristi shrestha or whatever you should be ashamed of calling yourself a creature created by divine GOD.
and whoever planned this whole shit drama.

  14. I feel really sorry for the kids whose faces r full of sorrow and the lady in white making them feel more sad and worthless!

  15. If it was to raise awareness then she should be sitting with those kids rather than posing in such a manner, flaunting whatever she is trying to do, her body or her dress? But she is defnitely not flaunting any human morality, a simple but a major one which seems to be lacking in her ( thats what i saw at the first glance and I wonder how ppl can say look at positive side ,what is it?I think first thing people,Nepali, are aware of poverty more than anything and anyone.Yes people try their level best in their life in whatver way they can to help, which Iam sure and they don’t need to raise awareness certainly not this way. There are many good ways to do so,this pic shows no empathy.Yup Common sense would have worked just fine which she or the director seems to lack.Oh I forgot after all she is a model that can wear a dress like any human being but definitely not a role model, why not call manequin?? if you can’t do justice to your brain. If a person think that its concept then I would suggest you don;t know the meaning of concept, using someone’s pain ,for one’s own benifit as concept is not acceptted in any book of humanity.Educated FOOLs!!!!!!!!

  16. “poor kids looking at a well dressed woman and wishing that they were as lucky as her.” : this is my first impression.
The body language, doesn’t indicate that the fairy’s gonna help, with her back turned at the kids.beautiful looking lady in white is in her own world and ignoring the kids. however, the picture is representing class difference “the rich and the poor”.Sorry but I just can’t see the connection between the model and the background!!all i can see is the massive difference.

  17. its like showing them how pretty she is…and they cant afford it
how come they dont have any place to photo shoot …

  18. ****IMPORTANT****

    um..guyz..
i get why ue lot r hatin on he but
the whole POINt of this photo is to make people hate on people lyk her..
people like us..people who have money but still wont do NOTHNG n keep on movin on with our life even though WE all know bout it!!

I think tht this photo is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G because this photo HAS caused awareness n a LOT of publicity towards poverty in Nepal!

So Lets just Congratulate the model n the photographer for comin up wid such an amazin concept!
ue may not be helpin to do anythin to stop poverty, BUT ATLEAST THEY R!!
    M just a 15 yr.old gurl n I think i hv enough brains to understand tht!

  19. this is not the best of photos but atleast it’s making us THINK and Talk about the situation – fashion and poverty. It may not go together as one subject but hey are all things meant to go hand in hand?

And for all the people out there who keep posting ”dislike” or ”unlike” (?) atleast justify your dissatisfaction!

and Wow some us are surely getting along well on this comment log – mind you with our claws out too!

Lex, your blog is rather a love/hate thing for me – nothing personal believe me. But some of the things you put out are quiet interesting. Props for that! but there’s only so much bantering one can do on one post!

  20. Picture wise- I don’t actually like it. About the concept, I think this picture actually portrays 2 sides of Nepal…It portrays the division between the rich and poor in Nepal…The girl all glammed up signifies the rich and happy Nepalese whereas the children signies the immense immense poverty…How about that??…Shreya

  21. Lets say she occured out of no where infront of the children who are being captured for photoshoot about poverty awareness Guys, she is a model a shit human being who get pay for revealing their body and maked-up faces for money NO DOUBT she will rush or appear like god where there’s camera right?
    SO IGNORE HER.

    :@ kawaiiazian
each and every citizen knows that nepal have been facing poverty since ages, and about your liking i have no offence but have you ever thought if you keep supporting this kind of bullshit arent you luring them to pursue such idiotic act again? god knows.
keep yourself in the place of those kid how would feel if you were posted like this? by reading your comment i was sure i bet you sounded 100% like a child i mean below 18.
