PROJECT UNITED : Nepali Youths From UK in Nepal

All done and ready for my project Deurali. Books are in, stamp is on, and we are on our way to Bhoksing Deurali. I always requested not only our elders for donation, but to our youth as well for smallest amount of such as £1 and today that amount has helped me to buy books and stationaries for children. So, those who donated please feel proud and give a pat on your shoulder. ; )))) thank you Durga x (Project United)

Parika Ale and Neelam Gurung (former Miss UK Nepal runner ups) in Lomanthang Lama School.
Maha Karuna Sakyapa Bidhyalaya ( Lama School). The students in this school come from a poor background who are either orphans or both. The school provides free education, accomodation and food for these children. It was our pleasure to have conducted our project in this school. Everyone was so happy to have recieved new clothes, stationaries, books etc. The smile on their faces truly defined our accomplishment. Our achievement was their happiness… To be able to make even a small difference in their lives made us feel overwhelmed with happiness. This is our thank you, the memories and smile captured in this photograph.
Everyone, this is for you. – Parika Ale

A team of Nepali youths from the UK made their way to Nepal in late June to carry out different projects supporting health, education, water and sanitation facilities in different areas of Nepal. The group also consists of several beauty queens including the current Miss UK Nepal 2012 Durga Gurung, Miss UK Nepal 1st Runner-Up Parika Ale and former Miss UK Nepal 2nd Runner Up Neelam Gurung. Titled PROJECT UNITED, each individual or pair had their own projects for which they had raised funds during their time in the UK. Due to various restrictions with time, some members have already made their way back to the UK whilst a few are still in Nepal continuing their projects. Miss UK Nepal Durga Gurung is currently still in Nepal completing her projects. Apart from the three beauty queens, the Project United team also consists of Diip, Pratap, Bimal, Bishal and Sachin.

It’s wonderful to see these young people motivated to do good and become part of something positive. Supporting social organizations by donating money is a very nice thing to do and I definitely encourage everyone to support one organization or just different charity events here and there. Its even better to see people going to Nepal and being involved on the ground with the organization that they are supporting. It just completes the ‘donor-organization’ relationship and by being there you’re automatically going to learn or be exposed to so much more. Of course, not everyone has time and money for that but hats off to these young folks (and so many others who do the same) for doing just that. A great way to utilize your summer!

While’ I’m on this, we have to spread the good work as well okay… we hear about the fights happening or the various fractions in our communities here and there; its unfortunate – that happens but lets also acknowledge the good that people are doing and support such actions.

Kudos!
