An Afternoon With Professor Surya Subedi In London

Established in 2009 with the mission to promote Nepalese interests in the legal profession, the Britain Nepal Lawyers Association‘s (BNLA) upcoming event will be an insightful afternoon unpacking the journey of Professor Surya Subedi. ‘Surya Subedi’s journey to Queen’s Counsel – Inspiring the next generation of lawyers’, will take place on Sunday, 10 December 2017 from 1.30PM to 4.30PM in Acton, London.

 

Professor Surya P. Subedi, OBE, QC (Hon), DPhil (Oxon.) is the first Nepalese to be appointed as Queen’s Counsel. Professor Subedi holds a doctoral degree in law from the University of Oxford, an LLM from the University of Hull, and an MA and an LLB from Tribhuvan University. Professor Subedi is currently a professor of international law at the University of Leeds.

As the event coincides with Human Rights day, Mandira Sharma, a leading human rights advocate from the Advocacy Forum will be joining us as a guest speaker. Mandira Sharma holds an LLM from University of Essex and is presently pursuing a PhD programme at University of Essex on transitional justice.

The event takes place at ABI College (formerly Queensland College), 1-3 The Mount, Acton, London W3 9NW.
