“There Are No Jobs To Protect If We’re All Dead” – Jolly Amatya

The Secretariat at the UN Major Group of Children and Youth (UN MGCY) Jolly Amatya highlighted the need to think progressively and act for the future as she delivered a powerful Youth Statement at the 100th Anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The anniversary event under the theme “The Future of Work” at the UN HQ in New York took place on April 10-11.

New York based Jolly spoke about the need to move away from Gross Domestic Product to indicators that measure the well-being of people and of the planet. Amatya shared the passionate speech in front of various Heads of State/Government and Ministers and stakeholders from various sectors.

Huge applause for Jolly for such a rousing speech and not shying away from stating how there have been certain regressive actions taking place. We are better, we can do better and we demand that! That’s what I get from her speech and I am totally here for it. I am also totally here for the Dhaka Saree that Jolly is wearing, made by Subexya Bhadel. Woop Woop!
