Arniko Skateboards is probably the very first skate shop in Nepal founded by Nepal-born Marius Arniko Arter. Arniko who spent much of his childhood in Nepal returned from Switzerland after completeing his carpentry apprenticeship. Due to the lack of decent skate shops in Nepal he founded Arniko Skateboards in 2007 and later opened the first store in Thamel, Kathmandu in 2009. Kudos to the whole team for being very ethical, giving employment opportunities to Nepalis aswell as doing something innovative at the same time. Watch the video below…
Noticed how the dude in the brown tee says NEPAL, he says it in such a NEPALIIII issshtyle! Lobhh it.
lol what a contrast. There are people like Candice who believes it was a couragious struggle to be in Nepal for 3 months and there are these lot who just love being there… good article.I am gonna check them out when I am Nepal.I used to skateboard from zero point to Siddhartha marg,at times the main highway but either purano bajar side or Ganesh thapa, Shiva G chowk way.One funny thing I remember was I when I went to make my nagarikta, I was asked by the ‘sachib’.”A bhai lai ta mailay sadhai daykhachu. To goodkinay chij ma”.I just flashed a big smile…
i remember few years back wen i went for a holiday in Nepal… i took a scooter which is like a skateboard but with a stick to hold (i dont know if ppl remembers that…it was hype in that time )…… i skated around pokhara n all the kids n grown up was amazed by it…. i guess this is a new level…. loving how the western item is infused with nepali talents…. keep up the good work guys …
