GAY PRIDE NEPAL 2011

14th of August was not just Gai Jatra but it was also the day when the LGBT community in Nepal came out and paraded the streets of Narayangadh in Chitwan. The ‘GAY PRIDE’ event started off around 11.30AM and came to an end just before 2PM in Pulchowk, Narayagadh. This was my first time going to such an event and I must say it was certainly an experience, a very enjoyable one at that. People were pumped, singing, dancing, there were two beauty queens of the third-gender community on top of elephants alongside MP Sunil Babu Pant who is Nepal’s first openly gay lawmaker.

Khoi, I have so much to write about it. From searching for our hotel at 1AM in the night in Bharatpur to interviewing local people and tourists – then realizing that my mike had stopped working. Kura ta lamo cha but main thing, enjoy the pictures for now and the video of the event will be on youtube under LEX IN NEPAL in a few months.

PS. This is the second Gay Pride event in Nepal
More photos will be added on the ‘lexlimbu’ page on Facebook.
