Most of the people that visit lexlimbu.com are from outside of Nepal… I don’t know what the experience of people are like on my blog but one of the reasons I started blogging was to be a medium in connecting and informing people of what is happening in Nepal. Since much of our national dailies focus extensively on politics, I have always had a soft spot for celebrities and entertainment. The want to know about what is happening in Nepal only grows stronger the further you are. Thanks to the page ‘We Dharane’ on Facebook, over 7000 Facebook users can keep up with whats happening in Dharan everyday! The page came to life just over two years ago after it was initiated by Sunil Chhangcha Rai or popularly known online as Kwan Chhang. While speaking to the Nagarik Daily recently, Kwan describes his childhood as being difficult. He adds further, saying that he was desperate to leave Dharan in hope to earn money abroad. That he did, by working in Afghanistan, however it was being in a foreign-land that made Kwan yearn to know what was happening in Dharan.
After returning from Afghanistan, Kwan wanted to be the medium. It was then he started the page We Dharane. He explains much of the members are based in Hong Kong and UK and are of the British Gurkha background.
Personally, I have always been amazed with what We Dharane have been doing – the way it manages to capture ones attention and gather people together is uplifting. More importantly, the things that We Dharane have led and been part of are so meaningful, gatherings such as blood donation, cycle rallys, Dharan Run, Budha Subba cleaning campaign to getting the youth together to form street dance competitions. I can’t list them all out, you really have to visit their page and see for yourself from the photo albums.
This post here is for Kwan Chhang & the whole WE DHARANE team! May you keep updating us all of what’s happening in Dharan and the surrounding areas and also continue to touch many lives and make a difference.
