Former Miss Nepal Malina Joshi was recently in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha for a program initiated by a couple of actors including WWF for a greener Lumbini. The religious pilgrimage for many Buddhists and a popular tourist attraction is in dire need of effective waste management. Failure to do so may result in the deterioration of the scenic landscape of the area. Once again it seems that the government has forgotten to do much in terms of promoting Visit Lumbini Year 2012, however the place holds a great importance for millions of people all over the world and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tourist attraction has many monasteries of different shapes and designs built by various countries across the globe including Austria, Thailand and Myanmar. If you have never visited Lumbini, then once is a must. I recommend the Kasai Hotel for accommodation.
