After many years spent in the UK and Brunei, my parents took me to Nepal in 2003. We had some ‘dais/didis’ doing the construction work for the extra room being built and I used to look at one of the didi thinking even though she’s working in such a dusty place carrying concrete wearing a faded away lungi; she was the most beautiful person there. She was always smiling and that smile definitely shined brightly along with her soonko mala that she had, plain and simple. I dont know how much the thekdar paid the dais/didis but they were always chirpy, had life in their face and were willing. I look on the faces of people here and of those I know and they [including me] seem to sport a frown more often than a smile.
Just reading few articles made me remember the past. #LIFE
