Founder of Baraha Jewellers Commits Suicide in Hong Kong

Very sad to hear about the recent death of fifty-five year old Kumar Lamichhane (Biswokarma), founder of Baraha Jewellers. The businessman was found hanging from a tree in Kam San Country Park, Monkey Hill Jungle, HK on Tuesday. Baraha Jewellers came to life in 2052BS from Dharan. Since then, the growing business expanded to Kathmandu, Hong Kong, UK and has plans to start operations in Japan. The reason behind his suicide is unknown.

Nearly seven years ago, I accompanied my mother to the New Road store of Baraha Jewellers. It was my first time in the store and also my only time that I met Mr Lamichhane. I was young and uninterested. My mum had told me that he’s someone who started off very small and local, someone we’ve known from our Dharan days. She emphasized the importance of being grounded and not letting money and success get to you… she referred to Mr Lamichhane as being a very humble, honest and reliable figure. We browsed the store and he took us to his office where he seemed interested to know about our lives. He enthusiastically spoke about his plans to refurbish the upper floor. We pray for his family and may his soul rest in peace.
