Kantipur TV host Sahana Bajracharya is currently on a trek to the Everest Base Camp. Whilst many see this as just a casual trip to the Everest region, I see this more as Sahana promoting domestic tourism in Nepal and the Everest region as well. Each photo that she shares on her official Facebook page is seen by over 14,000 followers from Nepal and abroad. Her inviting captions and well captured photos will undoubtedly create an impression to many of her followers and who knows, a few of them may even be inspired to set off on their own trek to the base camp. This is not the only occasion that Sahana has shared her experiences whilst travelling. She has previously shared updates and photos of her multiple visits to Pakistan and various different national parks in Nepal.

Sahana Bajracharya Himalaya

I am definitely one of the followers who is very keen on travelling to the Everest region. Having seen photos from different travel sites and those pages promoting Nepal, it feels odd to not have witnessed the highest mountain in the world that lies in our nation. Growing up in England, I have received my fair share of comments where non-Nepalis have asked me questions (some very silly) along the lines of “have you seen Mount Everest” or “can you see Everest out of your window”, unfortunately not all of us are that lucky. Nonetheless, hopefully things will change soon and its great to see Nepalis travelling and seeing the beautiful places in Nepal. Domestic tourism is the way forward.

PS. Those captions are by Sahana B.
