Nepali actor Sunil Thapa will be appearing in Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project alongside Priyanka Chopra. The untitled film is set to be a biopic of Indian boxer Mary Kom. The Barfi actress will be playing Mary Kom. The Kom people are one of the several Tibeto-Burman speaking groups living in North-East India. Thapa who has already acted in several Hindi films in the past is believed to be playing the role of Priyanka Chopra’s boxing guru in the Mary Kom biopic. Filming is expected to take place in Manali. Unfortunately due to the death of Priyanka Chopra’s father Dr Ashok Chopra on Monday June 10, the filming of Mary Kom is believed to have been postponed until further notice. Bollywood came out in full support with stars including close friend Shah Rukh Khan at the crematorium on Monday evening. Director Bhansali and our Nepali villain Sunil Thapa was also spotted at the funeral.
The Chopra family held a prayer meet at the Marriott in Juhu on Tuesday evening. The meet was attended by Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Imran Khan and more. Several media outlets also reported that Salman Khan cancelled the shoot for his film on Monday after hearing about the passing away of Dr Ashok Chopra. Priyanka’s father lost his battle to cancer.
