Miss Universe Nepal 2020 will be going ahead digitally! The organising company Ma Nepali Ltd, the new franchisee of the Miss Universe Organisation announced the news through an all-digital press conference earlier this month. The company has been founded by Miss Universe Nepal 2017 Nagma Shrestha and co-founded by CG Corp Global. The digital press conference saw participation from Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, Miss Universe Nepal 2018 Manita Devkota, singer Indira Joshi, the first Miss Universe Nepal 2017 Nagma Shrestha and MD and CEO of CG Corp Global Rahul Chaudhary.
Nagma is hopeful that more women across the country will be able to participate in the upcoming beauty pageant as it’s digital, open to Nepali women who are 18 to 28 based anywhere and also open to transwomen. The Ma Nepali, Miss Universe Nepal 2020 app will be available to download from mid-July.

This is quite a first! The organisation hopes to not only get people registering online but eventually train the contestants, get votes and run the whole competition online. This path that Miss Universe Nepal is treading will be one to observe to understand how such events and competitions can fare in a pandemic world where we need to follow social distancing measures.
I wonder if the training will be as rich… hmm! On the topic of training, Jonas Gaffud is the official trainer for the pageant with Anusha Peterson heading the Creative Director role behind this years all-digital event. Huge congrats to Nagma Shrestha for Ma Nepali and for becoming the national director of Miss Universe Nepal.
