Himalaya Restaurant – Nepali Food in Thailand

The online map made it look like the restaurant was just 5 minutes from the station but it was about 20 minutes walk. Was sooo relieved to see this sign.

It’s amazing how much you can miss home food when you are on the road. I definitely missed the taste of baklo daal, kukhura ko masu and hot steamy momos. After a quick status on Facebook, search on Google and calling up a few Thai Nepali dai’s I discovered the Himalaya Restaurant in Sukhumvit, Bangkok. The hostel that I was staying at was a little far from the location of the restaurant but Hey, anything for Nepali food eh! After about an hour on the train and walking from the nearest station, I arrived at the restaurant which was pretty tucked away in between what looked like luxurious high-rise apartments.

When I got to the restaurant at around 5PM it was empty. The restaurant was littered with Nepali ornaments, flags, Buddhist prayer flags and leaflets promoting Nepal. Great stuff! Anyways’ I ordered quite a lot for myself and was super looking forward to eating them right away. I actually skipped breakfast (woke up at 1PM) so I had made it a plan to just have one big fat meal for the day. As I was there by myself, I awkwardly asked the lady to take a photo of me and the food (#noshame). I am glad I did that because now I get to share that with you all lool. The food was delicious! I definitely recommend Nepali food lovers to check out Himalaya Restaurant in Bangkok.

What I had:

Yep I totally broke the bank!
