In the football world, Nepal national team striker ANIL GURUNG has won the NCELL Football Player of the Year Award. Gurung was handed over the keys of a Hyundai Eon car by sports minister Purushottam Paudel yesterday at the ANFA Complex. What a win! A Car!! That’s amazing! Following closely behind Gurung were Bharat Khawas and Bhola Silwal who became second and third respectively. The winners were decided by votes from coaches, sports journalists and SMS (text messages). Yikes!
Speaking to the press at the event, striker Gurung shared “I am very happy to receive the biggest achievement of my life. I feel like my hard-work is paid off. I am thankful to all who have voted for me”.
PS. Teenage football hero Bimal Gharti Magar has also raised the spirit of Nepali football fans with Bimal currently in Belgium as part of the trials for Anderlecht’s youth team. The young hopeful also took part in the AEGON Future Cup recently.
