The first ever Councillor Cup was held on Saturday 23rd November at the Tooting & Mitcham United Football Club in the memory of the late Councillor Gam Gurung. The heated final game saw READING UNITY beating DETACHED TEAM (1-0). The winning team received a grand cash prize of ÂŁ1100 whilst the runner-up Detached Team took home ÂŁ500. The event was officially inaugurated by Prayas, son of Gam Gurung. The sporting event saw a mix of Nepali and non-Nepali players, something that the late councillor would have been very proud to see.

The event organising committee have donated ÂŁ500 to St. Raphael’s Hospice, a registered charity offering high-quality specialist medical and nursing care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses as well as providing support for their families.
