Our-Sansar-Cricket-Team

This years International Day for Street Children will be a special one as Our Sansar, an INGO working with street children and education is hosting a cricket tournament to mark the day on April 12th. Our Sansar ambassador and celebrated Nepalese National Cricket Team player Shakti Gauchan also visited Our Sansar in late February to meet the children and teach them some new skills. Gauchan will be present at the final game on April 12th where teams from several children’s homes from Parsa, Chitwan and Makwanpur districts will be participating. The semi-final and final games will take place at the HUPRA STADIUM in Hetauda.

Tickets for the event will cost Nrs 300 and you can get them by mailing ayush@oursansar.org

If you can’t make the event but you want to support Our Sansar and the event then you can support them through the online Global Giving page.

PS. Great to see the participation of Shakti Gauchan. I hope the event goes well and I hope such exciting moments are not only limited to certain days but come in many for the boys and girls living at the many homes. Looking forward to the photos!

MORE INFO –

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

We currently have 19 boys in permanent residence and in an education program at our home in Birgunj. Living on the street has meant that these young boys have been unable to attend school, eat regular meals or make solid and lasting relationships. These boys are building new lives and with your help we can give them more than simply a roof over their heads. We can give these boys an opportunity to learn team spirit, sportsmanship and character and with your help a chance at a bright future.

How will this project solve this problem?

These boys are working to create a better future. This is an opportunity for them to experience an event that for most other kids is a normal part of growing up. The teams will compete, and regardless of the outcome, each child will have been part of a team, and part of this wonderful event. Nepal’s own star all rounder, Shakti Gauchan is our event ambassador making this a very special occasion. You can help us make this tournament a reality for these children.

Potential Long Term Impact

By providing secure foundations and by supporting these children in their education, health and fitness these boys can experience the joy that sport gives. They will experience the confidence that comes with mastering the technical aspects of the sport, the thrill of winning, and how to lose gracefully. This is an opportunity for these children to develop in ways that they simply aren’t exposed to in a classroom. We can help these children to break the poverty cycle, we need you to help us do it
