A month after the mega-earthquake, tourism entrepreneurs in Pokhara have rolled out a new campaign to bring back the tourists! As published on Republica daily on May 25, “Paschimanchal Hotel Association Pokhara (PHAP) has decided to offer 50 percent discount on room tariff of its member hotels, lodges and guesthouses”. If you’ve been thinking of visiting Pokhara or want to simply get away for a quick-break then this is the perfect time. In addition to the hotel discount, there is also 15 percent discount on paragliding and ultra-light flights, 50 percent discount on zip-flyer and bungee jumping and 20 percent discount on trekking guide fee.
The discount which is available to foreign and domestic visitors will be valid till September 30. According to Biplob Paudel of Hotel Association Nepal, occupancy of Pokhara hotels have dropped to as low as 2 percent.
If you do end up visiting Pokhara, make sure you call the hotel etc. in advance to see if it’s part of the member hotels for discounts.
