Nepalese Doctors Association UK Appoints Dr Beena Subba As Chairperson

The recent annual general meeting and weekend held by the Nepalese Doctors Association (NDA) UK at the Hilton Hotel in Watford between July 24  – 26 celebrated its 30th anniversary and also welcomed a new executive committee. Dr Beena Subba has become the very first lady chair of the association. Dr Subba is a consultant gynecologist at the North Middlesex Hospital. Joining Dr Subba is Dr Shabin Joshi in the position of Vice-Chairman followed by Dr Kamal Aryal as the General Secretary. The AGM weekend saw over 250 in attendance.

Since its establishment in 1985, the Nepalese Doctors Association is committed to maintain professional development of doctors by providing opportunity for clinical audit training, research and publication also creating shadowing/clinical attachment opportunities for young doctors. More than thirty members of NDA were able to reach Nepal within 48 hours of the devastating Nepal earthquake on April 25. The association has worked with charities in the UK and in Nepal through awareness programs, fundraising and the contribution of services including an ambulance in Taplejung, Nepal.
