A Knock Out By Boxer Surez Gurung!

It has been a while indeed but Surez Gurung totally killed it in his 5th Professional Fight in Hong Kong! Surez fought against Australian boxer James Gibbs and his three months of training and hardwork paid off as the fight ended at first round 1 Min 9 Seconds by technical knockout (TKO). While it’s incredible that Surez managed to finish the fight so quickly, he did want it to go on for slightly longer. Speaking to the blog, Surez shared “I was very lucky to have a lot of support in the crowd”.

Following the sold-out boxing event, Surez took a short break to Nepal where he managed fit in a visit to Jomsom. Now back in Hong Kong and busy celebrating Tihar, Gurung will be preparing for his next fight. He hopes to be fighting at another key event in early 2017.

Now if you want to get the lowdown from the man himself then read below:

“The fight went really well. Our game plan worked out pretty really well.

My coach wanted me to be more aggressive and land big shots in the first round to make him feel my power but luckily my big right shot connected early and he was on the canvas on the first 30 seconds of the fight. He managed to get up, however he was still not fully recovered from the knockdown so I went full on to knock him out and then my coach saw I was landing few and missing all my big shots so he shouted from the corner asking me to calm down and time my punches rather than throwing big wild shots as I had three more rounds to go.

I settled down and timed my punches which helped me to land more big clean punches on his body and face. The referee saw him bleeding and as he was taking too many big punches, he decided to stop the fight at 1 Minute 9 Seconds.”

Before I wrap this post up! Check out this short documentary of SUREZ GURUNG – from fighting in the streets to professionally in the ring, let him be an example that and an inspiration to many young people to make that change! To use their energy for better things. Credit to Prabin Gurung for making the video! So timely!
