Annapurna Cable Car To Operate Soon In Pokhara

Pokhara will soon add Annapurna Cable Car in its growing list of things to see and do! The cable car which will connect Sedibagar in Pokhara to the top of Sarangkot is expected to be complete in eighteen months time. Sarangkot is popular with tourists for its panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Pokhara Valley and the Fewa Lake. The makers of the Annapurna Cable Car will also be constructing a premium hotel atop the Sarangkot Hill. Now talk about a fancy way to transport yourself from the bottom to the top!

With a travel time of up to 9 minutes, the cable car system will have 16 to 36 gondolas. The entire cost of the cable car project is estimated at over Nrs 1 Billion. The lake city has also another cable car project in the planning stages, linking Basundhara Park at Lakeside to the World Peace Pagoda.

Whilst these establishments may certainly help bring more tourists, it’s important to consider if having more than one cable car is necessary in one city. As green areas will be cleared out for the construction of the stations at the top and bottom as well as for the towers, more parties should assess the impact these projects are having on the environment which also happens to be a natural habitat for many different species.
