SHOCKING STATISTICS: 300,000 Children Live With Autism In Nepal

A recent article on The Kathmandu Post on Parenting Autism shared that approximately 300,000 children in Nepal live with autism. The special condition can present difficulty with social communication and interaction. While it’s unclear if there is a more recent figure that is accurate, I did find that “300,000” happens to appear on several articles including on the website of AustismNepal. The website further adds “There are no reliable estimate for Nepal as autism is not known to many people. There is a lack of awareness amongst people and diagnosis on this is weak. It is estimated that there are about 2,50,000-3,00,000 Person with Autism (PWAs) in Nepal. Among them about 60,000-90,000 PWAs are severely affected”.

Don’t forget to watch the interview of Dr Sunita Amatya on Namaste TV show where she speaks about autism (in Nepali).
