SOLAR PUNCH are currently touring Nepal as part of their Saurya Yatra 2015 tour to promote alternative and renewable sources of energy. The American four-man band played their second gig in Patan Durbar Square in an event organised by Vajra Academy (apparently Nepal’s 1st Green School) in collaboration with Dynamic Hands and Vajra Eco-Resorts. A report published on The Kathmandu Post has referred to the musical event as Nepal’s first solar power driven concert. What a key time for such an event with an important message.
Speaking to the post Alan shared “We were inspired to use solar energy to drive our show because of the need in this society. People are not using energy correctly; there is too much pollution, too many resources being used.”
Solar Punch’s self-described mission is all about discovering solutions to environmental and climate-related challenges and ‘paying it forward’ by sharing what we’ve learned in song, art, video and lecture! Since our beginning in 2007, we have learned about incredible solutions all around our sweet planet. The following gallery of video clips is culled from our 2009 Solutions-themed tour, plotted, planned and managed by the outrageously awesome young people in the Indian Youth Climate Network and environmental educators Caroline Howe and Alexis Ringwald. – Solar Punch
