Im sure many of you have heard about Prabal Gurung, a Nepali fashion designer in NYC. I believe he’s had two collections out so far and many celebs ranging from Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana to Rachel Weisz have already tried his clothes. Recently he stated that he would like to dress Aishwarya Rai Bacchan, Sonam Kapoor and Rekha from India which made me wonder Which Nepali would PG want to dress? Here’s my TWEET to him and his TWEET back.
My Question: @prabalgurung thats shocking and sad, btw who do you want to dress from Nepal?
PG: @lexlimbu someone smart intelligent confident woman who is doing something worhtwhile and giving back to the country
Come on everyone, lets think? Who fits the bill? Malvika Subba? Anuradha Koirala?
Nah!!!!
Why Nepali n how can he if he is picking stars from Hollywood. Think from d out of d Box.
As far as Indian u shud check out indian magazines. He luv to call himself MADE IN INDIA.
U know wat He saw Dhaka topi for d first time 2 years back. Dis is so called our funny Mr Gurung.
that’d be me`
(confident chuckles!)
ammmm, probably I would see to his sister for the time being.
hmmm couldn’t he find any smart, intelligent woman in nepal to name? That’s a shame! I am sure there are plenty like Sijan Bhattachan chitrakar, abhaya(from abhaya and the steam injuns), sangina baidhya, namrata shrestha, etc. etc. You just need to be involved in the country to know.
Btw, Prabal Gurung does not write his own blogs. I figured that out when one of his posts had “Katmandu” instead of “Kathmandu” written in several mentions. I asked him directly if he wrote his own journals or somebody else does it for him as he’s a celebrity and pretty busy, but strange enough, my question was deleted the same day. So I got my answer!
I know that Prabal gurung is very talented, and probably no other nepali will be able to climb his height of success for a long time, but people should be honest too.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a big Prabal Gurung fan, but I’d prefer it if he’d stay true to himself…
Just dropping my few words,
ta,
Rebecca.
I think anyone can post one’s own perception inside the comment box. Also,it can be blaming sometimes and that does not mean other’s or mine is right your’s is wrong. It is just different heads pouring out.
The question is “which Nepali does Prabal want to dress?”..
So,everyone has a choice to think of who he wants to dress for in Nepal, if he has some time to think of that or it is his choice..
Of course, America has set him that big platform for his hard work and talent.Till date we have only heard of his praises from Mrs.Obama to Mrs. Ashton but still,Prabal always remembers his country in his every achievement.I feel that is too humble and appreciated nature.
Probably he is busy that he may not had time to think of answering about blogging or whatever of Katmandu instead of Kathmandu.I also used to spell as catmandu when not writing formally. Here,in Nepal also all business hires people to do almost all of the web works when they are too busy to find a time and sometimes friends do it.I think, it is a very normal thing and we should not take it that personally. Also it is his business.. Prabal is always Prabal. He is not compared to any Nepali here till date cuz he is a self made hard working persona.I feel like fan does understands him otherwise without understanding how one becomes a fan.
i have to agree with first few comments above.. in the cnn interview it did appear like he was more happy to get recognised as indian.. poor nepal..
Wow, i am proud of the answers…I agree..lol.
Till date, he has been mentioned as born in Singapore and raised in Nepal. I don’t think he prefers to be called Nepalese. It’s his choice though. Obviously, his answer was genuine.. I do not see much Nepalese women who has a blend of both, sense of international fashion and great intellect
“rabi chamling..isn’t it better to be barren than to have sons and daughter who would hesitate to call their mother “MOTHER”..
