Hope you read my last post about the new Navyaata magazine right? I cant get enough of it, from its style to its presentation…its just waahh! and one of the article section – Make A Wish is so inspiring. Navyaata have also featured many male models in the magazine aswell, its high-time that our daju-bhai’s also got an opportunity to strutt their stuff rather than just seeing vulgar flabby girls. Here is 18 year old Noal Gurung who was featured on Navyaata’s third issue. Noal who just finished his A’levels in Nepal is aspiring to study fashion with dreams to make it big one day in the West. I am not jealous of him or anything but I dont think he is a model material, I mean he is cute but he doesnt have that top male model face nor has the model body (6 packs) And he looks like any other ordinary nepalese boy. Anyway congrats to him to be on the spread of Navyaata Magazine.

Amir, I disagree. I’m a photographer and I see potential in him.
I partially blame the photographer too, because in those magazine shots, he has not been shot in the most flattering manner. However, all the blame cannot be put on the photographer, since a good model should have knowledge and awareness of what angles and poses suits him best.
However, I wouldn’t expect an amateur Nepalese model from Nepal to understand how posing works on the level of high fashion and couture. I also do not believe he has to completely subscribe to purpose. There are many models, for many different purposes.
Anyway, don’t knock on this guy. He’s not bad. I also don’t believe a model needs to have a 6 pack to be successful. That’s the industry prototype but I don’t see why we should accept it. 🙂

I think the rest (not all, but many) are really over-reacting to Amir’s comment.
I actually do agree with him. GENERALLY speaking, it’ll be hard for Noal to break through in the West with just his physical appearance and built. He can be a print model (appearing in magazines, etc) but definitely hard to be a runway model. Noal will have better chances in Asia than in the West.
But who knows? If he has the charisma and the right network, he may be able to make it. One easier way nowadays is to be really good and famous at something else, and perhaps companies may invite him to endorse their products and he can model for them that way.
