- Miss UK Nepal 2012 Durga Gurung at Beauty with Purpose
Miss UK Nepal 2012 Durga Gurung and the whole team consisting of nine other members organized a charity event Beauty with Purpose on November 3, 2012. The entertainment-filled event saw less amount of audience compared to the previous years organized by the Miss UK Nepal 2011 team. Nonetheless, the evening was still a success with £696.52 collected to support a Nepal based NGO ‘Children and Youth First’. The organization provides shelter and education for over a dozen children in Bhaktapur. The Miss UK Nepal 2012 team will be fundraising in various events throughout the year onto 2013 to support Children and Youth First and various other organizations.
In addition to their own event Beauty with Purpose, few of the ladies including Miss UK Nepal 2012 Durga Gurung and Miss UK Nepal 1st Runner-up Parika Ale were able to make their presence felt at the second UK Nepali Bazar on 24th November in Feltham. The event which aimed to encourage, support and give platform for Nepali entrepreneurs and their enterprises saw less participation compared to the previous years held in Farnborough. The venue of the bazar also had the live finals of the T-FEST Musical contest. Surrey University Nepalese Society, Maya Outreach and Asian Mahila Association were few of the participants at the bazar. Kudos to the Miss UK Nepal 2012 team for raising £231.88 at the event.
Organizing and managing events is a lot more trickier at the time being in the UK. Due to an excess amount of such events, peoples interest have started fading away. This has surely become a challenge for the organizers as luring the audience into the venue has become a task that requires an intense skill. All the best to everyone thinking of or doing any events in the near future.
