There was a time when trying to buy Wai Wai in the UK was one of the biggest challenges. Fortunately, as the Nepali settlements grew in various corners of the UK we received more variety in stores and goods on offer. Nepali populated towns such as Folkestone, Plumstead and Aldershot not only offer small to medium sized convenience stores managed by Nepalis but also different eateries, beauty salons, travel agents, clothes shops and even jewellery stores. New Laxmi Jewellery in Aldershot has been meeting the gold and silver needs of Nepalis living in Aldershot and beyond. The jewellery house offers traditional Nepalese silver jewellery through Silver Khukuri. The town which has also been dubbed the Little Nepal is a hotspot for all things Nepali.
Founder of Silver Khukuri, Prasant Limbu Thapa ventured into silver business in a bid to promote traditional Nepalese silver jewellery in the UK. Thapa who hails from a Gurkha background has specifically chosen to highlight and continue using the iconic Khukuri in many of the designs offered by Silver Khukuri at New Laxmi Jewllery House. Having received a lot of positive feedback and interest from so many in a short span of time, Thapa is hopeful of expanding Nepalese silver jewellery further afield and possibly into Europe.
