There’s a saying that flying a jet within Nepal is like driving a Ferrari in Kathmandu’s narrow roads! Well brushing that idea off is the new Nepali airline ‘Saurya Airlines’. The airline has already received its very first aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ 200 jet. The 50 seat Bombardier jet touched down in Kathmandu last week.
Cosmic Air was the last Nepali airline that flew a jet within Nepal. The airline flew the Fokker 100 aircraft on selected routes before terminating due to financial reasons. Sourya Airlines will be flying to Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Biratnagar and Bhadrapur.
Being honest – we have seen SO MANY airlines come and go! I just hope that new airlines such as SAURYA have done their maths well and take it steady! The airline has shared that it will add a second CRJ 200 next year.
