Homes for Humanity Fundraiser in Grays in August!

An all-variety performance evening will take place on the 21st of August for Homes for Humanity, an initiative by Junkiri Initiatives and Mission to Help Nepal at Thameside Theatre in Grays. The event which has been heavily supported and organized by Foundation for Indian Performing Arts (FIPA) and Thurrock Council will see performances from folk Indian circus, prize winning Bharatnatyam performers from Leicester and London, Nepalese folk dance and the renowned ‘Namlo Band’ with musicians Ganga Thapa & Shreya Rai performing.

Homes for Humanity is a long term housing solution which is expected to be a cluster of housing community (28 housing units) in the village  of Ghampey Danda. According to an assessment done by the Homes for Humanity team, 55 houses have completely collapsed in Ghampey Danda. Tickets for the charity fundraiser which kicks off at 7.30PM in the evening can be requested from EventBrite or alternative you can e-mail me! There is no set fee for the tickets – attendees can pay however much they wish to.

A single housing unit will have four rooms, two kitchen, two verandahs, solar system and smokeless chulo to accommodate two families. Materials for the construction will consist of CGI sheet roofing, bamboo wall, mud mortar on bamboo wall and stone blocks for flooring. The community will share a 9′ diameter well and 2 latrine blocks (8 for ladies 5 toilet for men and 4 urinals for men) and washing and cleaning area.
