Founded in 2016 by a group of media professionals, filmmakers and film enthusiasts in America, the Nepal-America Film Society (NAFS) has announced it will be organizing the Nepal-America International Film Festival (NAIFF) in May 2017. The festival which is expected to run from 5-7 May will be held at the Washington DC Metro area. The event will showcase all genres of films, documentries, short-films, animations and more. With the objective to bridge Nepali and American culture through film, NAIFF will also screen films from South Asia, America and beyond.
NAFS has previously organized an exclusive screening of Kalo Pothi in Maryland with director Min Bahadur Bam attending the screening. The society has plans to conduct discussions and workshops on themes ranging from films to Nepali diaspora at the film festival next year.
