How The Himalayan Games 2017 Went

As blogged previously, The Himalayan Games in Sindhupalchowk saw the participation of 430 students from 27 community schools between February 24-27. The event by Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership (HELP) is an intersholastic tournament aimed to enable the partner schools to create a vibrant learning environment through the inclusion of regular extra-curricular activities. The participants competed in eighteen activities ranging from football, table-tennis, badminton to relay runs.

The Himalayan Games closing event was attended by the Health Minister Gagan Thapa who was present to distribute certificates and prizes. Minister Thapa also unveiled a newly constructed building with thirteen classrooms. The winning trophy from the Primary Level and Secondary Level was won by Shree Nurbuling Secondary School (for more – click here). The event was held at Shree Satkanyamati Secondary School in Gunsa village.

Sounds like the children had such an amazing time! Of course, the handover of the new school block is also another cause for celebration. I had made a very small contribution towards the games and I receive this ‘Thank You’ note which is ever so thoughtful of ‘HELP’ to send over. Appreciated.

Thanks HELP
