About a month ago, I had shared the #Blankets4Nepal – Share The Warmth Facebook fundraiser on my social media pages. Powered by Code for Nepal, the campaign came at a time when the winter cold was taking many lives in Nepal. The campaign aimed to raise $1500 USD but trumped that figure by raising a total of $1870. On the ground, Samartha Nepal and Janata Clinic led the process of purchasing and managing the distribution of the blankets. The team joined forces with Hatemalo Nepal to distribute 275 blankets in Saptari District as well as 100 in Bhairahawa initially. In addition, 100 blankets and 40 caps were distributed in Lahan of Siraha District through Mandip Bharti and 100 blankets in Bara through Madan Gupta. Key contact on the ground Dibyesh Giri provided a final dispatch update on January 30 sharing that 70 blankets had been distributed in the Mushar Basti of Rautahat and 100 blankets in Kanchanpur, Saptari.
