Their signature colours, vibrant and youthful and feel-good names make the brand new Aloft Kathmandu Thamel hotel a perfect match for the city professionals. Re:charge, Splash, Re:fuel, WXYZ Bar; can the names get any trendier? It’s hip and funky, just like the reception area in the lobby decorated with monuments from Nepal and around the world.
My recent stay at the brand new hotel, part of Marriott International comes ahead of the peak tourist season in Nepal. Surprisingly, NOOK – the all day dining restaurant was pretty buzzing during breakfast and dinner. It may be the various introductory offers that are currently ongoing or travellers simply choosing to stay at Aloft Hotels, preferring its contemporary style. With 167 rooms and suites, the hotel offers stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley with my own room looking out to Shivapuri National Park and Swayambhunath Stupa.
The immaculate room was aesthetically pleasing. I’m sure Marie Kondo would be happy knowing how neatly it was all organised. With good use of mirrors and interiors, the room felt spacious. I chose to stay at the Aloft Kathmandu Thamel because of it’s location. Thamel is the heart of the tourist scene in Nepal as well as the city’s nightlife and Aloft Kathmandu Thamel is a walking distance to the biggest clubs including LOD. As the property is located in Chaya Complex, you won’t have any trouble locating the hotel.
The property will soon introduce its own casino, qualifying the Aloft Kathmandu Thamel hotel to join the illustrious five-star category hotels in Nepal.
On the 14th floor, you’ll find SPLASH – an indoor infinity pool with an impressive view of Kathmandu. It’s also a space where you can sip martinis on the side. The hotel comes with Sankalan, it’s largest meeting/event space with a capacity of seating 400 people and Tactic 1 and Tactic 2. The event I organised on Saturday, ‘LGBTQ / QUEER information session’ took place on Saturday 17th August at the Tactic 1 room. Both Tactic 1 and 2 offers a good view of the capital city.
