Nepal – India Border Issue

The whole border issue between Nepal and India has become very high profile in the recent months with Prachanda and his team visiting the encroached areas in Kalapani. India is believed to have encroached more than 50,000 hectares of Nepali land. Thats like ‘WOAH’. I strongly think that the border issue should be dealt with urgently. However, many people question if we should have an open border with India in the first place. Now this is where it gets tricky. Yes, the open border with India has led to many problems including increased amount of human trafficking, smuggling and an easy access for criminals/terrorists escaping India. Nonetheless we must realise that due to this open border millions of Nepali’s have been able to emigrate to India and work there. Positions range from waiters, butlers, drivers and plenty more’. My visit to Jaipur few years ago illustrated just how much Nepali’s there were only in that city. Most of the kitchen staff were all Nepali. Also Nepal itself depends on India for petrol and other such necessities.
If Nepal was to have a closed border then these links would probably have to go under review. I think the most convenient solution would be for Nepal to beef up security along the border with re-construction the pillars which is ”believed” to have been moved. Enforcing tighter restriction for people travelling between the two countries by land should be implemented whatsoever in hope of reducing trafficking.
hmm, so much to do, ”KE GARNE” ma matra bolera bhayena kya re.

  1. absolutely agreed with your point for the solution.
If only people in higher seat can think of it but well they are just not interested in whole country’s issue. Are they?

Well but seeing this issue we are also bit helpless since most of the stuffs in Nepal comes through India so They might threaten them to stop it If we tried to strengthen the security.
