Phew! So there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Nepal Airlines received its very first Modern Ark 60 (MA60) aircraft from China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) in Xi’An in China. The aircraft is the first out of two aircraft that Nepal Airlines will receive from AVIC with four more Y12e manufactured by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation to arrive later in the year. The two MA60 aircrafts are apparently a gift from China. OOOOoooo sounds very dodgy!
The funky new aircraft will join the very limited fleet of Nepal Airlines on April 26 when it arrives in Kathmandu. NAC is expecting the arrival of the remaining Chinese aircraft by the end of September 2014.
PS. This seems like a totally April Fool material but apparently Nepal Airlines is to acquire 22 new aircraft by 2019 as a means of boosting its domestic and international presence. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Bhim Prasad Acharya shared the amazing news to the Nepali Press recently. Erm. WE. SHALL. SEE. Lets focus on these Chinese aircraft first and then the AIRBUS A320 – expected for 2015!
