Namaste, Perverts!
This post is inspired from a blog that I follow. The Ajnabee; Shes a Londoner who’s now working somewhere in Terai, Nepal and her posts are about her experiences and encounters in Nepal. Nowadays surprisingly a large amount of people that land up on my website lexlimbu.com actually search lexlimbu on google. Now thats quite something right? People are searching my name on google.[Next- Wikipedia Page Please] How intriguing. There are many good key terms I have found that people use to land up on my website such as, Nepali Films, Successful Limbu, Jharana Bajracharya and a host of other upcoming talents name etc.
However, there are times when I just stare at the computer screen thinking ‘what the hell was that person searching’. Above are the KEY TERMS searched in that week and below are a few other examples of the most baffling ones that I’ve come across:
I bet those people out there who are searching for a quick relief really get mad when they end up on some random Nepali boys blog from London. I would. haha! Well to everyone that end up here somehow… Happy Surfing – Do share my links and More google searches for lexlimbu 😀

My Dad and London Marathon
My dad (Bhuwani Pandhak) will be running the London Marathon on 17th April 2011. The marathon is one of the most popular in the world and has a distance of 42 kilometres. He has always been sporty and keeping his fitness is a must. He also participated in the Trailwalker earlier this year where he along with his friends walked the distance of 100 KM, they completed the course in just under 24 hours. Continous walking… Crazy shit. They raised just over £5000 during the Trailwalker which supports the British Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam.Â
This time around his target is to raise £1700 of which £700 has already been raised. The money will go towards The Esther Benjamins Trust which is a UK registered charity that helps improve the lives of Nepal’s most vulnerable children. For full details regarding the charity please click here. If you can then please donate on his JustGiving page, it can be any amount. =]

Ek Chin with Shiva Shrestha
Shiva Shrestha is one of the few credible actors from our small film fraternity. Unlike many of his contemporaries he has’ steered clear from repeating himself in the roles given, however he is still one of the most popular actor that Nepal has seen so far. Truck Driver, Thuldai, Chino and Sagun are some of the movies that stand out from his filmography, aside from the movies of the past being of good content, Shiva Shrestha also benefitted from possibly the best music which still gets constantly played at Nepali events. ”Bataiisaille Udaii Layoo”, ”Aago Lagyo Dilaiima” and ”Suna Suna Sanam” are some of the hits where we have seen him shaking his legs. He’s also noted as a very ”chadkay” performer. It has been a while since we have last seen him in the Nepali silver screen and after Googling around for information and interviews of this classic hero I was shocked to find not much information available. So, YES I had to get in touch with Mr Shrestha and ask him of his current ventures, future plans and his glorious past. Enjoy the Ek Chin with Shiva Shrestha.
Â
Firstly, you’ve been absent from the film industry for too long, what have you occupied your time with in the past few years?Well, it is not that I am completely absent from the film industry, some of my movies will be releasing soon. I believe in quality rather than quantity…When I am not doing movies, I am into social services and into Sai Baba. As you know I am a religious kind of person and a hard core devotee of Sai Baba.

| Shiva Shrestha with wife and newborn son – June 2010 |
What are the movies in the pipeline? Three of my movies are yet to be released. They are as follows.. ‘Raj’, ‘Badmash’ and ‘Sangam’.
Having been a prominent figure during the Golden Era of Nepali Films, how would you describe the journey of Nepali Cinema from then till now?Oh it has been a long journey of 29 years…I feel I am still learning more and theres lots to do, lots have changed since then. Before only 1or 2 films were made but nowadays around 70-80 movies are made. Some technical part of movies are getting better and equipments etc, but some parts have become worse as such no quality movies are made and before movies used to be shot in 35mm reel nowadays most use 16mm reel.
The on-screen kiss that you shared between Karishma Manandhar for Manakamana created headlines back in the day. Looking back on that, how do you recount the experience? Yeah! At that time the kiss scene was very much hyped about. It was according to the demand of the story thats why the scene was performed but nowadays those kind of scene is taken as a norm. People have the ability to digest more than that.

Rajesh Hamal, Shiva Shrestha and Bhuwan KC; three top hero’s of Nepal but who is the better actor out of the three?Well, it is not for me to judge such matters. Our viewers are there to decide and we all have given our best with our products.
Aside from acting, you’ve established yourself as an exceptional dancer, is this something that you learnt from a choreographer or a hidden talent of yours? Its a mixture of both 😉
Through the course of your film career what has been the most memorable incident? One of the most memorable moment was during the shoot of a Pakistani movie when we were in Bangkok. I had to jump from a helicopter into the sea and I wanted to do the stunt by myself. It was scary even to look down at the sea from such a height but I so wanted to do it in a perfect way that I jumped from such a height into the sea. That shot was taken so beautifully, after seeing the movie I was glad that I did that scene by myself and I still become thrilled remembering the excitement during that shoot though sometimes I think it was a dangerous stunt and one mistake could’ve meant disaster

Having worked in Urdu, Pakistani, Nepali Cinema and creating a name for yourself and earned the recognition that you deserve. Is there anything else that you wish to accomplish? One always wishes for more. I wish to act in Hollywood movies. When I just started my acting career I was offered a role in a Hollywood movie about 25 years back. I was too young to understand the importance of that opportunity at that time.
Who has been the most fun co-star to work with? All my co-stars were fabulous to work with…especially enjoyed working with Jal Shah, Karishma Manandhar and Niruta Singh.
Lastly, thank you for your time and any last words for lexlimbu.com readers?Thank you very much for inviting me for this interview I hope all of you had a wonderful Dashain and Deepawali. Hearty regards to the readers of lexlimbu.com, wish all of you prosperity, peace and good health.

Maoists! Get LOST
A woman finds her husband among dozens of policemen killed in a Maoist raid in Naumule in Dailekh. Photo: Chandra Shekhar Karki
Yes I have a problem with the maoists. After reading a new post on MyRepublica, my dislike for this group has been renewed, once again. Seriously, after the endless struggle of so many years which took away the lives of more then 12,000 and affected many millions not forgetting slowing the development of the country, they (maoists) still havent been able to prove why they went into the ‘struggle’ in the first place. However they think its perfect to keep threatening to go underground or go into another ”revolt”.Â

It pisses me off when I see certain members of the media publicly dancing with the maoist leaders or when I see maoist leaders comfortably attending and inaugarating public events as if they’ve worked hard to be in that position. Maoists minions out there may argue saying yes they have worked hard but guess what, theyve worked hard killing people. People lived comfortably in Nepal once… they (maoists) are also the reason why so many flee’d abroad when they had the chance and now they can baselessly use ”maoists” as their excuse to not return to Nepal.
Two Words. Get Lost.Â
PS.
This post is in memory of all those innocent people that were lost during the ”struggle”Â

Ek Din Ek Raat releasing on Dec 17th
EK DIN EK RAAT is releasing on the 17th December! Read the synopsis below:
Story starts with opening of a lift and question answers on a road accident. Majority believe it’s due to some mismanaged traffic problem but Utsav(Vinay Shrestha), a news reporter, is sure that it’s due to some unseen power that led to accident.  His version couldn’t satisfy any of the reporters interviewing him. He is not believed by anyone not even his Boss who makes him prove what he said within 24 hours; so he is on mission to prove his verdict on unseen powers with his team of friends…. Ichchha, Jen, Rushan, Nil, Sabhya and Pralaya..
He has only 24 Hours…Ek Din Ek Raat to prove his belief…. Unbearable costs paid by Utsav during this mission. Yet, he could prove or not..remains the question and what the film is about…….
The movie stars Vinay Shrestha, Karma, Pooja Lama, Anup Baral, Dia Maskey etc.

When Prashant Tamang Cried
Indian Idol winner Prashant Tamang was seen shedding tears at the press show for his recently released movie GORKHA PALTAN. The movie which was released in November 5 has taken Nepal by storm and super-cemented Tamangs status. Gorkha Paltan has done business of 75 Lakhs within its first two weeks and is still going strong as it enters the third week. Tamang shed a tear at the press show stating how he felt overwhelmed by the love and support he has recieved from the people. Indeed you all should check out the pictures, he has been treated like royalty, from garlands of flowers to gangs of crowd flocking the theatre, Prashant mania is in full-swing. Producer brothers Rajesh Banshal and Suraj Banshal who previously produced Kohi Mero are surprised by the success of Gorkha Paltan… they feel that the subject of Lahurey life has been the forefront in connecting the movie with the audience.Â

NepUNITY’s next video will be ‘Aja Bholi’ which unlike the previous parodies, focuses more on the student life of the Nepalis in the UK. Dont worry, its not all drama but its got subtle messages mixed in with elements from the youth of today. The creation of this video would not have been possible without Top Event UK. I really want to thank Laxcha Bantawa for doing so much prepwork for this and all the other previous videos aswell, whenever she works, the passion and drive that we are able to see from her keeps us (actors) going. I just hope our loud JPT acting will be able to add life to that vision she had in mind. This video will hit the NepUNITY YouTube channel in few weeks just in time for SAY YES by TopEvent UK.Â

We Only Live Once
Suruwatma, Happy Tihar to everyone. Be responsible, enjoy with friends and family.Â
We Only Live Once. I say this line often because yes, we only do live once even though it may be a long life. Saying this also makes me realise how short and unpredictable life is… I feel the need to accomplish a lot. I dont know if its my need to do this or its the pressure from those around me to achieve a lot. Whatever it is, I want to try my hands at it and give it my best.Â
Studying in Kathmandu International Study Centre in Nepal taught me a lot. Hearing the experiences from my non-Nepali teachers and foreign friends led me to ask my dad, ”baba, tapaile tapaiko desh ko lagi k garnu bhayeko cha?”. Pumping his chest out, he answered how he enlisted into the British Gurkha Rifles at the age of 17 and as an orphan child it was a struggle for him to provide for his younger siblings as well as maintain the village house which was left behind. To me, his answer meant nothing. I had become so accustomed to hearing the stories of my foreign teachers rescuing village women, providing treatment and educating the poor. I often asked my non-Nepali friends why they loved Nepal so much, why they’re still here. I felt as if they were more Nepali than myself. Each of them worded it differently but the bottomline was they felt it was their duty to Help Nepal. While thousands of Nepalis leave Nepal each year in and out seeking better opportunities, hundreds of missionaries and aid workers make Kathmandu their home to bring a change.Â
Aside from the non-contact charity work which us Non-Resident Nepalis take part in from abroad, I want to encourage everyone of you who will visit Nepal in 2011 to do something. Volunteer, donate, sponsor or go help in your ancestral village. 2011 is the perfect time with so many of us going back. Yes, we do need to enjoy. Go get drunk in Thamel and shop like crazy in New Road but also realise that much of Nepal still needs our help. Doing something is what I forgot to do during my visit in 2009 and O’ how I feel so guilty. The chaotic lifestyle of Kathmandu surely makes you completely forget your responsibilities. However, the trip of 2009 also opened my dad’s eyes as he feels that his contribution to his village has been near zilch.Â
