Jharana Not Part of Mero Best Friend

1
Updates.Updates.UPDATES.

Mero Best Friend will no longer have Jharana Bajracharya due to Jharana’s conflicting schedule the actress has been replaced by another upcoming heroine from Sikkim who will star alongside Diwas Upreti and Resh Marhatta. The filming has already commenced.
PS. Jharana hadn’t even signed the contract for the movie.

Though my fascination began with Jharana Bajracharya – the celebrity. I think I’ve been luckier to be able to slowly get to know Jharana – the person. After having met so many public personalities in Nepal she is the only Nepali figure that makes me nervous; literally. I met with her earlier today (second meet) where I had a super time discussing her movies, where she is in life and all that jazz in a secluded corner of England. Yep, you heard it!

Jharana is still in England, very happy with her life and want’s fans and well-wishers to respect her  choice of staying away from the mainstream Nepali media. I just love her even more!

Check out more photos of Jharana and Me together.

Who Looks Better? Jasmi or Sahana?

35

Now I don’t really know how things go down in the world of fashion but earlier during the week model and the current face of Navyaata magazine Jasmi Gurung was spotted wearing Khushbu Dangol’s design at Kathmandu Fashion Parade, now the amusing thing here is media personality Sahana Bajracharya also wore the same outfit of Khushbhu Dangol’s at DAY 1 of Nepal Fashion Week! Honestly speaking I really think the design should’ve only been worn once but hey maybe this ”works” in Nepal.

So viewers, tell me’ who looks better? Jasmi or Sahana?

Deputy PM And His STUPID Comment

26

I think this guy deserves to be called an idiot. I mean, I know we don’t want out country to be devastated by earthquakes but that doesn’t make it right for you to pray an earthquake upon a different region elsewhere in the world. Acting Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar was asked recently regarding his view on the recent earthquake in Nepal to which he stupidly responded by saying:

”We have already become an earthquake zone. So let us pray to the Pashupatinath that it takes place in America and Europe, not here”.

When Shaan Was in Kathmandu

8

Shaan was in Kathmandu for an NCELL Corporate Event that took place at Hyatt Regency on 9th September. If you haven’t heard of NCELL then they are one of the fastest growing business in Nepal; a cellular network company very much like Vodafone or T-Mobile for you Amrikan Nepalis. Apart from giving a live performance to the corporate (not-so-happening) crowd Shaan even visited some Kathmandu landmarks from Pashupatinath, Baudhanath Stupa to a jewellery store.

I guess if I ever have to work in Nepal then NCELL would BE the firm, exclusive Indian celebrities as performers and NCELL Street festivals; so PHUN.

lexlimbu on Channel Nepal

8

Muahaha!

In terms of getting covered, my two-month long visit to Nepal was quite a success as I got featured in many magazines, radio shows and also TV for the first time! For those eager eyes do check out a Nepali national daily as lexlimbu will be on the weekend spread. All of this feels really good, do you know why? The most important reason being I havent used my source force to get covered. In our country it’s very easy to know someone and just ask your way around but thankfully I haven’t had to do that.

I went to the Channel Nepal’s office for eNews where I had a short chit-chat with host Yugal Pomo regarding YouTubing and Blogging! Looks like the camera got the worst of me as I kinda stumbled to find causes that I’ve been linked with – now thinking at home, I can say that I used my blog to raise money for Kumar Kancha and used youtube to raise money for Help Nepal Network. Damn. But OH Well. Hope you enjoy the video 🙂

World’s FASTEST SkyZip in POKHARA!

8

Look’s like there is soon to be another reason to visit Pokhara! In a month’s time High Ground Adventures will be introducing SkyZip which is more or less an extreme version of zip wire. Upon completion the SkyZip in Pokhara will become the world’s fastest, steepest and longest in the world. Quiet a triple threat there, I’ve done a zip-wire in England but that was from a tree and I tell you it’s amazing! I just wonder what the thrill would be like doing it from top of a hill that is 600 meters high, going the distance of 1.8km at 160km/h. Should be intense right? Their official site is still under construction with a countdown which states it will be up and running in 12 days but you can check out the Facebook page to see what this is really about. There are videos of other SkyZips around the world and digital images of what the site will look like etc!

Watch the video of a ZipLine in Haiti and that’ll give you a clearer idea of what one can expect.

PS. They are recruiting so if you guys are laying idle then check out the vacancies on their FB page.

Earthquake in Sikkim shocks NEPAL!!

4

An earthquake measuring 6.8 on richter scale has rocked Taplejung-Sikkim (India) border which was felt in Eastern parts of Nepal and also in the main capital Kathmandu and Pokhara. Five people in Nepal were killed whilst 44 other sustained injuries. Three were killed when a compound wall of the British Consulate fell over them at Kapurdhara Marga of Lainchour. Okay, I am shocked that the British Consulate could even locate in such area with such bad structure. Should it not be like the mammoth sized American Embassy??

Acharya : Releasing on 23rd!!!

5

I think this movie will work the with the city people and those that understand film-making! Prashant Rasaily who was previously an Assistant Director in the Bollywood movies Kites is all set to make his foray into Nepali films with Acharya which is a biopic based on the legendary Bhakta Raj Acharya’s life! It’s already become quite topical regarding if the movie will actually cover it’s cost which apparently exceeds 2 crores! Acharya will be premiered first in Sikkim where Rasaily comes from then will follow on to a slick Kathmandu premiere before releasing to the masses on 23rd August. This is one movie that I am really excited about and think will be praised critically by writers too. All the best for ACHARYA

Thapa who represents Wilhelmina Model Agency made her debut at the fashion week wearing Prabal Gurung’s collection for Spring 2012. Check out the photos below. Though I don’t know Varsha personally, I think it’s amazing how Nepalis be it far or near are going up in their respective fields. Well done Varsha, you goooooo girl!

Ferinai Parcha – The Photos

3

A little late, but Nepali timing had to kick in the system somewhere so let me off this time. Here are the photos from Ferinai Parcha, the grand event which took place to showcase the YouTube sensation Promise Tamang Phan’s talent. Promise transformed 8 boys and girls into celebrities from Lady Gaga, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Johnny Depp, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian. I was also one of the lucky eight to be transformed and we’re all thankful for Promise’s hardwork in transforming us. She’s a one man army who barely had enough time to transform herself to Nicki Minaj but as a true professional she didn’t complain. Must say well done to WhatNext and Parcha Pro for making this possible however one cannot deny that Ferinai Parcha was quiet a letdown compared to Tattinai Parcha with the event starting pretty late and two guest performers Manas Ghale and Naren Limbu not performing. Unsurprisingly the party came to an abrupt end when a fight broke out in the middle of the dancefloor. Then the police rushed in… Zzzzz!

A night of potential just flushed away. But Promise Tamang Phan shined, it was simply her night. Maybe it was good that the other two musicians didn’t show up.

PS. I personally want to thank Bipen Gurung, Siwangi, Brinda, Siddhartha, Promise and everyone who helped in collecting bits and pieces for my outfit. I had nothing when I got to the show but you guy’s were super. thankyou.

DREAMS – For The Animals

3

I believe the most hard working people in our society are those that do not seek to be seen or do not have that interest in their work being covered or seen by everyone. Few weeks ago I went to DREAMS. Dreams is a non profit charity organization that provides food, shelter and much needed medical treatment to the stray animals ranging from the cows, oxes and dogs that you see on the roads of Kathmandu. Former Miss Nepal Rupper-Up Prerana Shah Rana also heads this organization with husband Toby Rana and the stories that she told me about their rescues and their desperate need for financial support to build better shelter’s was just moving. Being a former Miss Nepal Prerana can easily use that status to promote DREAMS and attract more interest, however unlike the many that are into causes for the wrong reasons Prerana seems pretty content in where DREAMS is heading with the support of friends and family. Each animal, be it cow or monkey had their own story, stories which would leave you feeling guilty for not doing anything the last time you walked past a cow in the middle of the road which was badly injured.

For people in Kathmandu you guys can visit their office near the old Chinese embassy, they provide pedigree food to medication for dogs and why not also go to a rescue with them and experience what DREAMS does first hand. For those that are far but want to support then follow their work on Facebook and their Official Website:

Bodyguard Collects 2.15 Crores in Nepal!!

9

I only got back from my few day long trip to Janakpur today and it was pretty amazing! One song that was overplayed was the Teri Meri ki Meri Teri from Salman Khan’s latest Eid release BODYGUARD. Friends have raved about the movie, apparently it has a really good ending and almost every scene of the movie is amazing. Well it comes as no surprise that Bodyguard has done a record breaking business of 2.15 crores gross collection in Nepal, that’s just in one week which makes Bodyguard the most successful Hindi movie according to Digital Cinema Nepal (DCN) in Nepal. The weekend showings at QFX and Big Cinemas in Kathmandu started as early as 8 AM and ran through till 9.30 PM at night, I guess that’s pretty intense! In the West people go GAGA for Harry Potter and in the East it’s Salman Khan… or Shah Rukh……or one of the many other Khans.

So how was Bodyguard for you?

New Nepali Movie – Highway

9

Highway is an upcoming Nepali movie which has been directed by Deepak Rauniyar that will easily raise a lot of expectations. Now one doesn’t expect much from Nepali actors and actresses but when there’s such a strong cast (consisting of Karma, Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Eelum Dixit, Reecha Sharma etc) behind the movie we have to think twice before passing it by. Not only that but observing the poster of Highway which was done by Swapnil Acharya leaves one enamored by what’s yet to hit them. The marketing team behind the movie have done their job well as the online release of the trailer garnered over 5000 hits in less than 24 hours; that’s pretty amazing.

If the promotional campaign continues in such way and scale then Highway will unmistakably leave the ticket booths empty!
I look forward to more exciting updates, teasers and trailer ohh and get a screening going in London too 😀

Mouse Grounds Nepal Airlines AGAIN!

0

Nepal Airlines only remaining plane which was grounded earlier during the week at Tribhuwan International Airport after a mouse was spotted in the cabin flew to Kuala Lumpur after being grounded for 11 hours and the original flight to Bangkok was cancelled. Now the same plane has been grounded in Hong Kong International Airport after a mouse was spotted in the cockpit. According to airline official’s the mouse seen at Hong Kong airport is not the same as before. Apparently their engineers have photographs of the previous mouse which died in sticky glue.

Looking at this positively! It’s great how the team at NAC and the airport authorities are acting on it and not letting the plane fly. Such cases with small rodents being found on planes is not uncommon. Just earlier this year few airlines in the UK also had rodents roaming around which delayed the flight. Nonetheless, if the first mouse jumped out from the food catering box then NAC should seriously take this matter up with them and conduct regular hygiene checks!

Brakefail – Failed Laughter

0

”Darsak lai sochiyera nai banayeko philim ho yo” said director Shankar Ghimire to Kantipur TV host Suraj Singh Thakuri at the premiere of his movie Brakefail. The movie is very close to Ghimire as it is another one of his home production and has his wife Richa Ghimire’s name and face plastered across the poster. Aside from having Richa, Brakefail stars a host of actors from Rajesh Hamal (in a negative role) to Niraj Baral, Bimlesh Adhikari, Subash Thapa etc.

The movie is made well technically speaking. It’s doesn’t follow the traditional style of film making that one is so bored of seeing and the actors and actresses in the movie have all done a commendable job to their role. For me none of the characters stood out, no one was striking enough. Richa Ghimire after a long time is very well dressed in a movie and excels in dancing and acting (losing a few kilos of weight would make her ”hot”again). The script could have been more tightened… while I write this I am a bit lost regarding what really happened in the movie as there wasn’t anything memorable. Actor Subash Thapa plays the character of a homosexual journalist in the movie. It’s certainly a good way to introduce such variety of personalities and I particularly liked the movie in the second-half when the story is set in the Terai and we get to see Madhesi people and their culture. Director Ghimire has tried his best to bring new masala to an old story.

Brakefail which Richa described as a ‘situational comedy’ failed to deliver laughter to the dozens that had made their way into the halls. If you like Richa or want to like Richa then go for it.

Mouse Cancels Nepal Airlines Flight!

4

This only happens in Nepal and YES you read it right. A Boeing 757 owned by Nepal Airlines had to cancel it’s flight to Bangkok today after finding a mouse on the aircraft. According to airline spokesman Raju KC the mouse is believed to have boarded the plane at the Kathmandu airport through a food catering truck. What an embarrassment to our national carrier; NAC has had enough of such incidents (remember the incident with the goat being sacrificed in front of the plane??).

As Blogger Guffadi wroteNAC plane was grounded because a mouse wanted to travel to Bangkok without any visa or them ticket sicket. And the same plane was supposed to fly to KL in the evening … so I guess no Malaysian holiday for some of our Nepzie tourists haroo!”

Very humiliating for Nepal Tourism Year 2011. Haa Haa!

Speak Up Against RAPE CRIME

9

Though Nepal is considered to be quite a safe country compared to many other nations in the world, we still do have our cases of extreme crimes. The recent murder of Rosy Maharjan of Lalitpur is only one example of media-grabbing activities that are taking place in the land-locked nation.

Next on the list is of 25 year old Ram Binod Yadav who is was a teacher at Janata Higher Secondary School of Kailali. Last week Yadav was admitted to have raped and killed his own niece and student, Lilawati Rana aged only 15. Cases such as Lilawati Rana have been happening and probably will continue to happen but for that to stop we must simply speak up to save lives. Let the culprits know what mistake’s they have committed.
Tougher sentences so this kind of act STOPS!
