World’s FASTEST SkyZip in POKHARA!
Look’s like there is soon to be another reason to visit Pokhara! In a month’s time High Ground Adventures will be introducing SkyZip which is more or less an extreme version of zip wire. Upon completion the SkyZip in Pokhara will become the world’s fastest, steepest and longest in the world. Quiet a triple threat there, I’ve done a zip-wire in England but that was from a tree and I tell you it’s amazing! I just wonder what the thrill would be like doing it from top of a hill that is 600 meters high, going the distance of 1.8km at 160km/h. Should be intense right? Their official site is still under construction with a countdown which states it will be up and running in 12 days but you can check out the Facebook page to see what this is really about. There are videos of other SkyZips around the world and digital images of what the site will look like etc!
Earthquake in Sikkim shocks NEPAL!!
An earthquake measuring 6.8 on richter scale has rocked Taplejung-Sikkim (India) border which was felt in Eastern parts of Nepal and also in the main capital Kathmandu and Pokhara. Five people in Nepal were killed whilst 44 other sustained injuries. Three were killed when a compound wall of the British Consulate fell over them at Kapurdhara Marga of Lainchour. Okay, I am shocked that the British Consulate could even locate in such area with such bad structure. Should it not be like the mammoth sized American Embassy??

Acharya : Releasing on 23rd!!!
I think this movie will work the with the city people and those that understand film-making! Prashant Rasaily who was previously an Assistant Director in the Bollywood movies Kites is all set to make his foray into Nepali films with Acharya which is a biopic based on the legendary Bhakta Raj Acharya’s life! It’s already become quite topical regarding if the movie will actually cover it’s cost which apparently exceeds 2 crores! Acharya will be premiered first in Sikkim where Rasaily comes from then will follow on to a slick Kathmandu premiere before releasing to the masses on 23rd August. This is one movie that I am really excited about and think will be praised critically by writers too. All the best for ACHARYA

Brakefail – Failed Laughter
”Darsak lai sochiyera nai banayeko philim ho yo” said director Shankar Ghimire to Kantipur TV host Suraj Singh Thakuri at the premiere of his movie Brakefail. The movie is very close to Ghimire as it is another one of his home production and has his wife Richa Ghimire’s name and face plastered across the poster. Aside from having Richa, Brakefail stars a host of actors from Rajesh Hamal (in a negative role) to Niraj Baral, Bimlesh Adhikari, Subash Thapa etc.
The movie is made well technically speaking. It’s doesn’t follow the traditional style of film making that one is so bored of seeing and the actors and actresses in the movie have all done a commendable job to their role. For me none of the characters stood out, no one was striking enough. Richa Ghimire after a long time is very well dressed in a movie and excels in dancing and acting (losing a few kilos of weight would make her ”hot”again). The script could have been more tightened… while I write this I am a bit lost regarding what really happened in the movie as there wasn’t anything memorable. Actor Subash Thapa plays the character of a homosexual journalist in the movie. It’s certainly a good way to introduce such variety of personalities and I particularly liked the movie in the second-half when the story is set in the Terai and we get to see Madhesi people and their culture. Director Ghimire has tried his best to bring new masala to an old story.
Brakefail which Richa described as a ‘situational comedy’ failed to deliver laughter to the dozens that had made their way into the halls. If you like Richa or want to like Richa then go for it.
