K Yo Maya Ho – I LIKED IT!

3

So after 1 week of it’s release I emptied my Friday to watch K Yo Maya Ho; Director Sudarshan Thapa’s second movie after the carbon-copy Mero Euta Saathi Cha. Having said that, I still enjoyed MESC. K Yo Maya Ho once again stars Aryan Sigdel alongside Sushma Karki, Saugat Malla and Arunima Lamsal in leads. The movie is a rom-com focused on live-in relationships. If you want to go watch a movie with a story with depth then this movie is not for you, however if you are like the majority who want to go for the laughs, be entertained by mindless comedy and return with a smile then this is definitely the movie for you. Its a lot better then the typical movies that have Biraj Bhatta, Rekha Thapa and the likes!
Though there are many JPT funny moments the movie does stick on to Nepali traits by discussing issues regarding why people do not follow the trend of live-in relationships in our countries and offer various different views on the subject. Aryan and Subash are great with their characters and Arunima hmmm – I still find her a very TYPICAL Nepali actress so for her to take on a lets say, a modern role was quite indigestable. Sushma Karki might be receiving negative press for her over the top acting but I believe she needed to do that as the whole movie is very much over the top and needs those loud acting to make it funny. Though the movie made news for being screened in BIG Cinemas in City Centre mall, it was removed after only one week! I had to queue up outside Gopi Krishna which still follows age-old system where people push their way forward and once I got inside the hall I realized I had to sit by myself as the hall was running over-capacity. Majority of the people that were watching the movie seemed to be enjoying it with outbursts of laughter and applause.
I recently watched the Salman Khan starrer READY and I can say K YO MAYA HO is a lot better. And in terms of technicality the movie is a lot better than Mero Euta Saathi Cha. Go see it before the screening ends!!!

DJ Phucchey at Party Nepal Outdoors AGAIN!

2
So it’s nearly been a month since my arrival in Nepal and if you Kathmanduitees are familiar with your Friday night’s in the city then I’m sure you’ve already come across the name DJ Phucchey. He goes by the name Nikun Shrestha and when he’s not DJ’ing around the happening bars and events in Kathmandu you can spot him acting on the popular football based tv-show Hamro Team on Thursday nights (Kantipur TV).
DJ Phucchy will once again make a return over this weekend at Party Nepal Outdoors THIRD event at Pame Beach in Lakeside (Pokhara). The third event by PNO is expected to have 10 hours of nonstop DJ session, of course one can’t possibly expect DJ Phucchey to do this all by himself so along with him will be DJ K-World from Bangkok, DJ Ben from USA, and DJ Aashis. Like previous event’s there will be the model sodel paltans and various hero heronies gracing the beach side and shaking their legs and hips. So who else is going to PNO???

Nima Rumba’s NEW Video

2

Suruma, dheraii dheraii mafi pau mero yo website recently update na gareko ma. Currently I am in Bharatpur where I will finally start filming for LEX IN NEPAL tomorrow. Getting to the post – check out the third video from Nima Rumba’s album ProStyle Rangau Ki Ma. Even though his last video JAADU failed to create a JAADU let us hope that the heat defying chemistry between Jharana Bajracharya and Rumba make Timro Ooth Ko a visual hit.

The video has been directed by Pratap Singh. What are your thoughts? Jharana looks hot, but then that’s nothing new.

Asian Mahila Association are back with their annual TEEJ PARTY on the 27th of August. The ladies who are behind the party have thought about all of you and know how badly you want to look your best on that day so the party will conveniently kick off at 2PM and go late into 10PM at night. AMA will also be supporting Maiti Nepal this year from the money generated through ticket sales (£10 for advanced, £15 for door).

The girls or shall I stick with aunties at Asian Mahila Association have a lot of surprises up their sleeves which they will be unveiling every Sunday over on their Facebook event page so do go over and see what hungama they are about to create.  Some other goodies you’ll get with the ticket are:

Will you be there at Oak Farm School on the 27th August?

The Boss Magazine’s TOP 100

5

The Boss is a corporate magazine that is very popular amongst business houses in Nepal and for their 100th issue they were on the look out for 100 people that are making a difference. And BAM – I happen to be one of the 100 as well.

Yesterday I spoke on Kantipur FM and I said I myself am surprised at times with how things have turned out. When I started I never expected people to recognize me for simply writing my mind or promoting things. This just shows that if used in the right direction what the power of internet can do. Certainly, this is only the beginning for me as I have still a LOT yet to do.

Thank you to everyone who has been there for lexlimbu from the start and will be there tomorrow to.

Watching Kohi… Mero

6

It finally happened. A year after the release I got the chance to watch Alok Nembang’s Kohi… Mero today. I feel like a little kid who’s constantly winning a meet and greet with celebrities as I’ve bumped into and met so many personalities of Nepal. Today was a WOAH of a day. I cannot express how thankful I am to Alok Nembang for organising a private screening of Kohi… Mero at Attic Bar. Apart from Alok being there, I was watching the movie sat next to Subash Thapa; the hero of the movie and Aryan Sigdel; Nepal’s most happening actor. I just thought it was so ahhmayzing. I’m a celebrity geek! That’s why I’m such a die-hard Jharana fan, those that live in Kathmandu may not find it any different as they’re so used to crossing paths with ”celebrities” but to me I am literally ”OMGing” inside though I stay composed and calm.

Aside from the hero’s and director being there, there was also Namrata Shrestha, Varun Jb Rana, director Suresh Darpan and many others. Now going on to the movie – it’s better than the typical Kollywood movie. I can understand why people didn’t like the movie, it is a bit technical in a sense that there are many cut-away flashbacks which can easily confuse the audience. The movie also has many sequences which goes to the future and back. I loved the song’s and Sanchita Luitel who is normally seen doing loud acting has stole the show with fine acting. Aryan can put Kohi… Mero into his (growing) collection of fine movies. The character of Prayas which Subash Thapa has played cannot be any better introduction to cinema. He has played the role of a silent lover well and done a commendable job. Now coming on to Jharana, I am disappointed with the length of her role but nonetheless she’s done a good job. There are bits when Jharana looks a bit mature compared to the three other actors and that might be due to her healthy look (she now is a lot more skinny). The movie is great! It’s got a typical Nepali feel presented in a way which is watchable for the viewers of today and tomorrow. Other actors such as the mum (Radha Lamsal) has also done a good job.

Kohi… Mero will release on DVD soon – Who wants to buy??? 😀

Jharana Bajracharya in UK!

2

Jharana Bajracharya landed in UK yesterday, the actress who likes to keep a low profile is currently on a personal visit. It’s most probably something to do with her affiliation with Bipassyana and meditation. Jharana will be there for a couple of weeks until she returns to Nepal by the end of this August. The filming for her upcoming ‘Mero Best Friend’ is slated for September when both Jharana and Resh Marhatta return to Nepal.

The screenshot above is from Kohi… Mero, and I am finally watching that movie later today. VERY LEXCITED!

Gawky’s Performance at Top Model UK Nepal

8

Those of you who aren’t from the UK might not be familiar with Gawky but they are a all-girl dancing group. Gawky have been performing for a while now but their performance at an event in Kingston University ultimately gave them the much needed exposure and let’s say since then it’s all been a high. Having performed at Ranginai Parcha, they also heated the crowd up at Mr and Miss Top Model UK Nepal. The girls with the moves are set to perform at Signature’s The Show later this month.

One suggestion for girls, increase your rate but dont perform everywhere. Remain that exclusivity. Anyways check out their sizzling moves. Im a fan!

Don’t Mistake This For AFRICA

2

This picture is in fact from Nepal and it’s not fake. Jamuna Buddha, 12 of Rukum District is severely malnourished and has been admitted to Bheri Zonal Hospital. She is still fighting for life and death. If you can support her in any way please follow the link here to HELPING HANDS TO JAMUNA Group on Facebook where you can see recent photo’s of her and progress report.

An initiative started by Laxmi Bank called Laxmi Cares is also supporting Jamuna in this quest to overcome malnourishment.

Mother Earth by Kishor Kayastha

2

He works for ECS Living and is also the photographer of the new magazine Folio, Kishor Kayastha want’s to be known as an all-rounder photographer and not be mistaken for a fashion photographer. There is nothing more he enjoys then for people to examine and critically comment on his work. Having divided opinions of the people with photo’s of model Shristi Shrestha posing in a poverty-stricken locality has taught Kayastha to stay tough skinned when it comes to receiving feedback from the mass. Kayastha shot Jharana Bajracharya for the Mother Earth piece which is quite self-explanatory also be on the watch out as Jharana will be working with Kayastha again.

And below is a photo of Kishor Kayastha and myself – taken at his work studio. SUPER!

Biggest Waste of Space

2

There was a new building under construction in Leicester Square in London. Now, Leicester Square is like the entertainment hub of London – there’s lots of cinemas (where movie premiere’s take place), restaurants, clubs and more. When I saw that a building was in the making I got excited hoping it would be another entertainment avenue for my friends and me. I had hoped for an arcade/shopping mall but unfortunately it was an Mmp;M World. If you’re wondering what an M&M World is then stop. It was basically 3/4 level of stuff with all M&M on it. There was dozens of clothes, from t-shirts, trousers, socks etc with M&M branded on them. There were the same M&M sweets in thousands of different shaped boxes. There was small but very expensive M&M wallah sajauney saman.

£906 POUNDS!!!!!!
I was just confused by half-way through. The London’s M&M World is 35,000 sq ft big making it the largest candy store in the world. I think there’s quite a few shockers in there. Firstly, this is the 4th M&M World :O and secondly why would you want to create such a waste. I guess it’s an example of the crazy consumerism that strives in the West. If it was by Cadbury, maybe… MAYBE I would kinda feel the idea but M&M? Really! I rarely even have it. To me it’s a copy cat of Smarties. Anyways at a time when our economy is just building post the recession it was a great shocker to see such a building. Enjoy the pictures and leave your response below.

Not IMPRESSED.

PS. I wont be as astive on Facebook in the coming days so visit directly on lexlimbu.com, thankyou

Buddha Born In Nepal – Documentary Trailer

6

Where was Buddha born… That question and the argued answers; India and Nepal, will probably be debated for a long time to come. But here is a trailer for a documentary appropriately titled ‘Buddha Born In Nepal’ directed by Saroj Mahato. The name sounds familiar but I can’t seem to dig up much on him. Looks like the doc is based in South Korea and unlike previous doc’s on the subject of Birthplace of Buddha the director has gone out into the streets to show the real response from people.

Popular Kollywood director Tulsi Ghimire has also announced that he will be making Nepal’s first film in Buddha, another trivial fact is that the movie will be animated. I can see this becoming a tacky ‘My Friend Ganesha’ like film. Come on, Kollywood still hasn’t mastered movie making and jumping to animations is not going to help. Moving on – I have always been vocal about the argument regarding the birthplace of Buddha but I’ve also learnt it is as per each individual’s belief. Some claim the ‘the Buddha’ was born in Bodhgaya, where he was enlightened. ETC. ENJOY THE TRAILER.

PS. I wont be active on Facebook much for the next few months so please visit lexlimbu.com directly for blogposts.

Shayaad – Trial Show

0
With the director and few cast+crew members of Shayaad
So today I was invited to the trial screening of an upcoming Nepali movie titled Shayaad, the movie is directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ and it marks his return after Bato Muniko Phool. Along with me there were quite a few personalities in the small screening including actress Nisha Adhikari. Let’s cut to the chase, the movie directly appeals to the younger bunch of teenagers who are currently in school or Plus-2 level.

Acting is brilliant by all the actors; the older bunch which has the likes of Jharana Thapa, Babu Bogati and co and the younger bunch of boys and girls really impress with commendable performances. Out of them Samyam Puri and Wilson Bikram Rai’s performance steal the show in the second half. Just when everything kick’s off and things start taking the turn for the worse Rai’s performance captures the audience humor and his comic timing is great if not perfect. Similarly, Samyam Puri’s character is definitely put to the challenge which he conquers really well. Few days ago I was chatting with theatre artist Subash Thapa regarding the common usage of loud acting in Kollywood and we wanted to see people show emotions and act without saying anything… well that was what Samyam did. Even when there were scenes in the movie when he was full of anger and frustration we the audience weren’t being told that by voices as done in previous movies but we could just see from the expressions that was given up. He certainly has the ‘act’ in an ‘actor’.

Shayaad is only slated to release around October/November this year and the movie now will go through more editing process to make it an even better final product. Now I never knew that trial screenings were even held in Kollywood. One should suggest all directors/producers to host such trial shows.

Oh No NEPAL!

6
Nepal got the worst result ever in its history of the World Cup as it was defeated 9-0 by Jordan in the second round of World Cup Qualifiers for 2014 FIFA World Cup on Saturday in Amman, Jordan at the Amman International Stadium.

The second leg of the match will be held at the Dasharat Stadium in Kathmandu on Thursday. Earlier, Nepal had defeated East Timor 7-1 in aggregate during the first round at the Dasharath Stadium.

After such a good team spirit and reaction from the Nepali audience when they played East Timor, I think all expectations has been flushed away. Oh No Nepal. We can only pray for the
team.

I Met Jharana Bajracharya!

13
Yep, It finally happened! I met Jharana Bajracharya on Saturday. Since I’ve landed in Nepal I’ve been going here and there hardly leaving any time for my cousins and grandma at home but today I had decided to stay and actually communicate with people online and inform of those in Nepal of my arrival. It was that ‘informing’ session that quickly and unexpectedly gave me an opportunity to meet her. I knew I would meet her as I am here for a while that’s why I felt there was no rush. She was lovely and quite chatty, I expected her to be more quaint judging by her fondness for meditation and Bippsyanna. I felt like I met Jharana; the person and not Jharana Bajracharya; the celebrity.

She will soon leave for Europe where she will travel for around a month. Jharana will also be visiting UK once again and will be back in Nepal by the end of August. Due to my time constraint’s I probably won’t meet her until she returns however when she does I would love to meet Jharana Bajracharya; the celebrity.

PS. I also met Kishor Kayastha; a truly creative photographer and Tenzin Tseten Bhutia; new hotshot designer of Nepal.

I STILL CANT BELIEVE I MET THE KHATARA GIRL!

Nepal Promoted in Dublin

0

The Ambassador of Nepal to the UK & Ireland has been busy of late. One can spot him making appearances at various Nepali events as well as organizing own event’s to promote our much talked about Nepal Tourism Year 2011. And Dr Suresh C. Chalise was doing just that on the 9th July in Dublin. The Embassy also honored Everest Summiteers as well as showing video reels of Nepal and giving away promotional materials. The ambassador and his team have been praised by Nepalis in the UK for improving the standards and services at the Embassy. Yes, going there and finding not so enthusiastic workers is still a common sight but it’s definitely a lot better than before. I hear that in the past the cleanliness of the area was so bad that one had to block their nose while entering the visa section.

Sounds bad for a building which is so costly and located in London’s most expensive road.
Nonetheless, great going ambassador, when you give more, people expect more so C.O.N.T.I.N.U.E

PS. I will by flying to Nepal tonight and for the next few months I won’t be active on Facebook so please visit lexlimbu.com directly.

Jharana On Cover!

1

Apologies for the badly captured screenshot’s. I am in Nepal and this is my first ever post. The day I landed I didn’t do much apart from spend time with cousins at home and went to the stationary pasal to buy some magazines. I picked up Insignia for the obvious reasons. Presenting to you the Story of a Seeker; Jharana Bajracharya! Do read the captions it’s quite in-depth and personal I believe.

12 Days Till Top Model UK Nepal

0

The finale poster looks NICEEEEE right? Well I think so anyways. It’s only 12 days till the Top Model UK Nepal show takes place in Aldershot and tickets have gone on sale! There are three types of tickets; Platinum, Gold and Silver at £30, £20 and £15. Ever since I put up the Top Model UK Nepal page on my website people have gone crazy with their voting! With 24% of the votes Arun Pun is leading the way for the boys whilst Anisha Gurung is following closely with 16% for the girls. Over 1600 votes! Crazy! I guess the TMUK Contestants have been calling out all of their friends and frenemies.
