The JUICE x BACARDI singer is not playing with us. JAY AUTHOR has teased us with ON TIME video and it looks gorgeous! I’m gonna go there and say it – the teaser alone looks better than the JUICE x BACARDI video! Whilst I knew that Miruna Magar would be in the video, it was such a delight to see Shilpa Maskey and Jenny Sunuwar. These beautiful Nepali women really know how to work the camera. The R&B song features The Redface & Don Dee with the video by Zac Rai.
Jay Author’s Summer Interlude is available, pretty much everywhere. If you still haven’t heard JUICE x BACARDI by now then you need to go and listen to it right now. It’s pretty dope! On that note, I hope it’ll be no time until ON TIME 😉
The power personality Nagma Shrestha grabbed the attention of millions of Nepalis when she became Miss Nepal Earth in 2012 and she has done it once again. Shrestha was crowned Miss Nepal Universe today by the Chairperson of Hidden Treasures Mr Gopal Sundar Kakshapati at the gala 23rd Anniversary celebration of Miss Nepal at Hotel Annapurna!
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Nagma will be representing Nepal at the 66th Miss Universe to be held in Las Vegas on 26th November, 2017. This is #MAJOR! Unsurprisingly, this is the first time that Nepal will be participating at the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. Nagma has quite a backlog of experience when it comes to beauty pageants. As Miss Nepal Earth, she was the first from Nepal to reach the finale and has also represented Nepal in World Miss University where she clinched the title of third-runner up.
She is definitely a woman on a mission. You go girl!
The BINDASS actress Sushma Karki who’s in the UK at the moment recently bumped into Bollywood actor Salman Khan in London. The Udhreko Choli item girl was pleasantly surprised to run into the WANTED actor during a stroll around the capital city. Karki is currently in the UK for the Bijaya Dashami Subhakamana Sajh. She’s performing alongside singers Hemant Rana and Kali Prasad Baskota. Speaking to lexlimbu.com, Sushma shared that the conversation between the actor and herself lasted for approximately ten minutes with the actor being very kind and warm. The Mero Euta Saathi Cha actress also invited Salman Khan to visit Nepal, highlighting the growth of the Being Human stores in the capital city.
Let’s just say… I am sure Miss Karki left quite the impression on Salman Khan. I am totally down for Sushma playing a clever vixen or doing an item number with Salman Khan! She’s an entertainer!
The UDHREKO CHOLI flame Sushma Karki will be setting the stage on fire with her sultry moves across the UK during the Dashain festive period. The live event will feature the Bindas actress Sushma Karki alongside the very well known Kali Prasad Baskota. Baskota has recently hooked millions across Nepal and overseas with his role as one of the judges of the widely watched NEPAL IDOL! Baskota is well known for his hits from Nira, Jaalma from Resham Filili to the more recent Ajambari from Gangster Blues. Lastly, singer Hemant Rana who had us weeping with his tearjerker song SAILI will also be performing alongside Kali Prasad and Sushma Karki! What a line up! Hemant Rana will most likely set the scene for the evening with his timeless songs such as Laija Re to Saiyeu Juni followed by Kali Prasad’s energetic numbers with Nira and Jaalma, only to be wrapped off by Sushma Karki’s performance in Udhreko Choli! It would be amazing to see her perform in Thamel Bazaar from LOOT 2! Who knows, maybe she might!
You can catch the Bijaya Dashami Subhakamana Sajh by Shree Siddhartha and Nepalese Entertainment in Aldershot, Harrow and Reading. Advance tickets for the event are priced at £15 with the door sales at £20. The hosts for the evening will be former Miss UK Nepal Nia Dewan and Madhu Sudhan Thapa.
Heli-Air Nepal, South Asia’s only gyrocopter operator will soon take the skies in Pokhara from the first week of September. Offering an incredible birds eye view from the glass-cockpit, Heli-Air Nepal is offering packages for scenic flights around Pokhara, the Annapurnas and Balewa. The gyrocopter, sits somewhere between a helicopter and an ultra-light aircraft and the company has confidently stated that it will be the best mountain flight experience. I guess we’ll have to experience it to believe it.
The company is currently offering five packages under its adventure flights:

Gateway to Mountains – this 30 minute flight goes beyond Pokhara, reaching the foot hills of Mt Fishtail and the Annapurna Range for NRS 25,000

The company hopes to add additional services in the near future and also provide air-taxi service using its gyrocopters for people living in the different cities of Nepal. I hope they provide a quality experience and take safety as a priority for their passengers as well as for their reputation.
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) took place last night in California! Whilst there were several big performances lined up from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Fifth Harmony, Ed Sheeran to Kendrick Lamar, the award show was also awaited by millions of Taylor Swift fans also known as Swifties for her big comeback video! Whilst Swift never left, she has made a dramatic return to music by wiping off her feed on various social media accounts. A post of a slithery snake was all that fans and followers of Taylor Swift had for a few days! Swift who was referred to as a ‘snake’ by Kim Kardashian on Twitter has totally worked this label and created a whole line of merchandise and included several dozen snakes in the music video which premiered last night at the MTV VMA’s.
The music video for LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO sees the return of director Joseph Kahn with Taylor. Kahn, a pop music video genius has worked with Taylor in the videos Blank Space, Bad Blood, Wildest Dreams and Out of the woods. If you’re a pop music geek like me then there’s so much to love in this video. From a bit of choreography to dazzling outfits, larger than life sets and a big SHADE aimed at Katy Perry, the video is Taylor’s way of letting the world know that she fully knows what is thought about her, her ‘reputation’ and what she really thinks about it. Let’s just say that Taylor does not seem to give a damn. Whilst a tell-all interview discussing her feud with Katy Perry to Kanye West would be heaven for gossip-mongers, Swift has stuck to what she’s comfortable with by writing a song and creating a video to address all that has been said in the past year+.
As more people travel across the country and to Nepal, I thought this would be the perfect time to share about my experience at the Rupakot Resort. With the upcoming peak tourist season only days away, Rupakot Resort in Kaski makes for a suitable getaway for those living in Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as tourists who prefer the finer things in life. It also doubles up as a great treat especially after completing one of the many arduous treks around the Annapurna Range. The exquisite property occupies 25 acres of a hill with 42 deluxe rooms which come equipped with basically, everything you need.
PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT: GREAT FOOD. AMAZING LOCATION AND VIEWS. INCREDIBLE POOL.
Whilst I was slightly apprehensive about the visit in the beginning, I quickly warmed up to Rupakot Resort. I worried about being bored during my one night stay. I thought to myself, it’s a luxury resort on a hill, what else? Thankfully, my time spent at the resort was jam-packed as I managed to visit a nearby Muslim Village ‘Miya Gaun’ located about 15 minutes away from the resort. I also managed to visit the Masjid (mosque) of Miya Gaun and speak to the scholar and few local residents. What’s a visit to Rupakot without visiting Rupa Tal right? We did exactly that by visting Rupa Tal and enjoying the stillness of the surrounding.
The Panorama restaurant will undoubtedly be the focal point of many peoples stay. On a clear day, you have a panoramic view of the Annapurna Range, the hills and Rupa Lake and Begnas Lake! The outdoor seating area is a perfect place to sip a drink, read a book and enjoy being in a true oasis. With the spa, meditation and yoga centre in operation now, Rupakot Resort has plenty to offer in and outside its premises. Friendly staff will greet you along the way and you’ll most probably even bump into the chairman and managing director Mr Pushpa Raj Adhikari, who is the brains behind the resort. Mr Adhikari is a Nepali based in Belgium who now splits his time between the two countries.
Rupakot Resort may be on the steep side when it comes to its room rate and food and beverage fees but it’s well worth it. It’s a massive property, providing experience unmatched and ideal for small groups, couples and families.

London based Shilpa Maskey will be appearing alongside Aashirman Desraj Shrestha Joshi in BREAKUP! Shilpa who lives in London has appeared in several short-films, music videos, a UK TV advert as well as dance for the Bollywood group BollyFlex! Dancing and acting aren’t the only things that she does well as Maskey has hosted several events in the UK as well. Earlier in the summer Bir Bikram director Milan Chams announced that Shilpa would be the lead actress for his upcoming love triangle LILLI BILLI. Whilst it’s unclear when LILLI BILLI will go in production, it looks like BREAKUP by director Hem Raj BC will be in production soon.
If you’ve seen Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange then you might just have seen Shilpa in the film as well. It feels amazing to write about Nepalis from the UK who are doing their own thing and so good at it. Their hard-work and drive is slowly paying off and Shilpa Maskey is an example of that. She has been involved in the arts and entertainment for a while now and not to forget that she is such a genuine soul and I am SO excited for her journey! I hope to write many more posts on her. Get it gurl!
With Anju Basnet and Leo Tank Dhamala as the models, the music video for Mero Man Ma is a reminder of the 90’s Bollywood videos featuring a European mustard field and historic castles in plenty. The video by Kushal Shrestha features sweeping aerial shots with the models in focus as they caress and lovingly gaze into the eyes of one another. The song by Sapan Kumar Rai and Sharmila Bardewa, both based in the UK also feature a few seconds of questionable choreography which I believe even had the model Anju thinking “what on earth is going on”. Amusing folks. Jokes aside.
Here’s a random fact for you! The hunk of a model, Leo Tank Dhamala is seen baring his abs THREE times across the music video. Whilst I realise that it must’ve been the decision of the stylist to have him wear the unbuttoned shirts, I would’ve just asked him to take his top off… now that would easily save the cost of three separate shirts right there! Lolz.
The song, at its melodious best features the voice of the wonderful and well known Sharmila Bardewa alongside Sapan Kumar Rai, a man who is literally known for his events, community involvement as well as being the person behind the widely popular UK Dance Off competition.
Covering songs can never be easy with some artists proving to be more challenging that others. Sujan Gurung‘s cover of Sabin Rai’s Timi Nai Hau makes for a pretty spectacular cover. That rasp in his voice compliments the song beautifully, giving a perfect Sabin Rai touch. Something Sabin Rai is known uniquely for! I am totally impressed with this cover. Huge thumbs up from my side!
PS. For those of you who have not heard the original, you can play it below!
With the peak tourist season rapidly approaching, 2017 has already been a momentous year for the country’s tourism industry. The first half of 2017 saw a whopping increase of 41.50% in tourist arrivals with a figure of 460,237 and more is expected from September onwards. Digital marketing and social media have been instrumental in re-branding Nepal as the go-to destination. The country seems to have shaken off the image of the earthquake and many other natural disasters that it often faces. Marking this tourism high, here’s a time-lapse collection video of Nepal in 4K by Nepal360! Looks exquisite! Now imagine, actually being there!
We are only a week away from kicking off Tracing Nepal 2017! It’s going to be an exciting year and we have the biggest team of 16 travelling to Nepal from Singapore, Hong Kong, UK and USA! The travel program is all about supporting development, supporting tourism and supporting organisations that are working their butts off to make a difference in the community.
I can’t wait to (re)introduce Nepal to these group of people and I am so glad to see that online media has been able to do that as well.
The power personality Malvika Subba is back in London after seven years! The former Miss Nepal arrived at the London Heathrow Airport this morning. Malvika who won the title of Miss Nepal back in 2002 is in the UK as the official choreographer of the Miss UK Nepal 2017. Since her days as a Miss Nepal, Subba has gone onto lead countless projects including her association with MTV EXIT, being the CEO of Idea Studio Nepal and currently she’s hosting Jeevan Sathi, a show that brings couples together. Malvika will be in the UK for two weeks before she heads back to Nepal!
The grand finale of Miss UK Nepal 2017 will take place on 10th of September in Aldershot. This years contest brings eight contestants; Sujana Pun, Prakriti Shrestha, Lisha Sunar, Shristi KC, Alin Garbuja, Sophiya KC, Shimona Shrestha and Sirjana Gurung. The event commences from 3.30PM onwards at The Empire.
VJ and Priety’s TIMILAI is probably the best romantic ballad to drop this month. The musicians who’ve racked up fans from all over the world thanks to their ever-so-sweet covers now have a number of originals that is equally good! TIMILAI not only sounds great but the video takes the song further. Dipson Ghale (Kiddo), Jan-Michael Abuton, and Carl Russell Monzon’s dance choreography adds immense visual value in the video and of course, Zac Rai is the director behind this stunning video!
The intro scene, outdoor scenes, solo shots of VJ and Priety to the dance being fused into the video makes this an incredible viewing experience. Take a bow Zac Rai. Seeing the young directors growth is literally everything. Truly amazing to see the level of art that is produced when the creative come together. The music has been produced by Jay Author (Metanoia Records) and Brijesh Shrestha (NESS Beats).
Hoteliers and resort owners seem to be on a competition to build the most extravagant building or add an infinity pool in the unlikeliest of places. A new luxury hotel by the name of Mystic Mountain has opened in Nagarkot offering guests what they would get in a five-star property complete with stunning views and a pool that’s perfect to fulfil your social media needs. With rates starting at Nrs 7500 for a double room, the hotel seems to be competing alongside Club Himalaya Nagarkot in terms of the facilities it offers and its price category. Mystic Mountain Nagarkot currently offers Deluxe Room, Suite Room and an Executive Suite Room. The sixty-room property is located 32km east of Kathmandu.
I actually like the shape of the building! It’s like a web of pyramids. Whilst it is nice, it’s also daunting to imagine Nagarkot in 10 years time… it’ll probably be such a busy weekend spot, if not already.
The meeting of two musical maestros that have nothing but passion for underground hip-hop has resulted in DESCENDED. The track by UK/Nepal based DAWA and Professor Trix has a great vibe and parts that standout bordering on the aggressive side, begging for the attention of the listener. The track has been produced by Dipan and Dawa. This is definitely one of the rare songs that I found myself moving my head to as soon as I started listening. Great music in the bg! Carries the song through till the end.
The DHANAPATI team from Nepal, consisting of actor Khagendra Lamichhane, director Dipendra K Khanal and producer Rojina Sitaula jointly expressed their excitement to be watching the film in Aldershot with the audience. The screening on Friday marked the second show of Dhanapati after the first screening in Folkestone. Unfortunately, the third screening suffered a setback on Sunday, 20th August in London’s Safari Cinema due to a technical difficulty. The London screening has been postponed to September.
The story of a man, working to make a difference in the lives of his family will now travel all the way to Aberdeen and Edinburgh in Scotland. The film will screen at St. Clement Hall on Mastrick Drive on 26th August followed by the Himalaya Centre for Arts and Culture on 28th August from 7PM onwards.
The elusive Red Pandas have been captured in the most magnificent manner in the short-film The Forgotten Panda. The red pandas which are found in the high hills across different parts of Nepal, India and Bhutan have been captured up close in their natural habitat as they feast away on bamboo and literally sleep through most of the day. The fifteen minute film features a large chunk of footage from red panda habitats from Ilam. The video by behavioural scientist Dr. Axel Gebauer, a former zoo director of Germany’s Görlitz Zoo arrives at a time when red pandas have been vulnerable to poachers. A report by OnwardNepal in late July shed light on the illegal red panda trade in the country despite there being no clear market.
Dr Axel is correct! They really are one of the most beautiful animals.
Hollywood may boast of handsome hunks such as Chris Hemsworth and even in the Nepali cinema industry we have hunks such as our very own Anoop Bikram Shahi. The actor who has starred in several films including King, Bir Bikram and How Funny is looking forward to joining audiences in the UK for the premiere of Kamale Ko Bihe! The film sees the actor tackle a new character, stepping away from his hunk persona or the action man which we have often seen him playing. Shahi stars alongside the gorgeous Sandhya KC in the film by Prasanna Poudyal.
The UK screening of Kamale Ko Bihe with Anoop Bikram Shahi will take place on 3rd of September at the Princes Hall, Aldershot from 4PM onwards. With a number of Nepali personalities currently in the UK, it’s highly likely that this premiere will attract the familiar faces from the Nepali arts and cinema industry. The actor was in the UK in July for the Box Office National Film Fare Award in Aldershot.
Keeping it consistent is Ramuna Pun with her fresh upload of Hold You sung by Kalpana Pun. The original video by Ramuna features the lovely British outdoors and a range of summer colours that bring the still video to life. Observing Ramuna’s recent videos, I can assume that she likes light, filming outdoors and a rainbow of colours. I really liked the visual aspect of this video. Love the variety of songs and videos that people are coming up with. Aren’t we a spectrum!
It was during work when I was desperately trying to find videos on YouTube that I could play to teenagers in a bid to soften them up a bit, to get to their sensitive side and take a break from all the chatter that they easily tend to do that a young person came to me and asked me if I had seen a video called ‘My Dad Is A Liar’. I hadn’t. I quickly checked it out and saw that the video from, around 2015 was a heart warming one about the struggles that the father goes through each day to provide the best for his daughter. It’s such a beautiful video.
Videos such as these are timeless. I hope you enjoy the short watch.
